Lemme not even get on Spotify numbers, but overall it will cross 1B streams SOON!!

And if we convert the IFPI method to units, then BUTTER sold 14M units in last year ALONE. And is estimated to have sold 17M units by July this year.

DYNAMITE MIGHT BE BIGGER BUT BUTTER IS ALSO A 'GLOBAL' SMASH HIT and is the last global smash hit in Kpop.

  • Instead of going for global jackpots, it is now going for atomized, specific sectors, preferring to stack higher sales from core fans and not going for a worldwide hit

Sadly not everyone is BTS to get a global gp hit

Here listen to Butter played at the Emmys

Other groups have tried with their US promotions & releasing a few english songs here & there after companies saw the success it brought to BTS, but sadly it didn't go anywhere.

Girl groups also make songs for the masses but unfortunately all of them are too domesticize except Blackpink & Twice to a lesser extent. It's the majority of boygroups who continually restrict themselves with their core fans. I wonder why the companies won't re-brand the image of their boygroups & continue pushing for easy-listening songs for the GP like BH did with BTS back in the days.

I used to believe another kpop boygroup can compete with BTS globally since boygroups have always been more popular in the Worldwide stage. And maybe, we can see someone getting head to head with BTS in every metrics in terms of global touring, sales & digitals.

But alas, companies are too lazy these days & don't want to invest more in groups-- only wanting to profit off album sales. HYBE & BTS on the otherhand is very ambitious and keep it pushing.

  • After Napoleon, France never crossed the Rhine river again. Never. While getting whipped by Germany, which didn't even exist in 1815 (part of it was called Prussia which was the more dominant, but not the largest, area of it - a significant portion of Prussia now belongs to Russia), two times since then.

After BTS, I am afraid KPop will never cross the Pacific again. I won't even get started on the picture on the left and bottom of this post.

  • And they can do it again. Sooner than later if the alt service was granted & they have a proper cb. Not sure when if the enlistment happens. Maybe in 2025/2027? 😂😂😂

    I doubt it.

The fervor does not return when the momentum is gone.

Plus the whole ethos of Kpop has already changed. Aespa has given up trying for international hits, and instead goes forward for higher album sales.

I also don't see any kpop groups achieving the HEIGHTS of BTS (seeing the current situation RN & predicting the future of Kpop). Well, the next 'biggest group' will probably be a western/foreign group. And if this happens, kpop will end with BTS' dominance and who knows how many years it will take to re-claim the throne.

Alt service means they only need to train for 3- 4 weeks, there will be no enlistment. They can wrap it up in a month. They need to complete it in a particular time span so why would they delay it to 2025/27? If they are granted alt service, they will most likely wrap it up in a few weeks next year and move on to making music as a group and touring alongwith solo releases, since most would have completed working on their solo albums by this year end. They do not even need to release a full group album, can just put out a single here and there if they want to devote more time to solo work.

This seems incredibly reasonable and exciting to look forward too

If you mean the fervour of the fandom, you could not be more wrong. Armys need just 1 banger of a song from the group and its end game for everything and every one.

If you mean fervour of the group, don't underestimate the fire BTS possess, they are like a lion which is waiting out the winter in its den. They will be out someday and soon if the alt service is granted.
