Welcoming Committee

It was suggested today that new users would benefit from people to show them the "ropes", so to speak. I'm not sure how many of you saw it, but I created a forum a bit ago called New Around Here?

New Around Here?

It offers users double the akorns and that is meant to encourage all of us to welcome our new members. However, this forum might still leave people to hobble around on their own and the solution to that could be an actual devoted welcoming committee. These members would moderate and add to the section, perhaps even write some FAQs to help first time users and in general help them feel comfortable here.

What do you think?

LOL, being staff has its perks and downsides, but I'd really rather someone who wanted to be on the welcoming committee cause they like to welcome people!

The Welcoming Committee would moderate that section and maybe contribute a simple guide or tutorial/FAQ for first time users (haven't thought too much about this yet) - just like the Content Crew can moderate the Badge section and work together to facilitate Badge Resales.
