Did SM make a mistake by pushing superm, nct127 and aespa instead of RV and exo in the US?

    Approved the thread.
  • SM stopped caring about the US market until BTS blew up. They literally created SuperM as the next BTS which obviously didn't work so now they are trying to push aespa and nct who are both flopping in the US.

  • They are both superior in every sense so yes. Not to say they would have definitely succeeded but had more potential.

  • Not really.

If super M was cringe then what difference is Exo? To the lay non kpop American fan there's literally no difference between Super M and Exo, just a bunch of Korean dudes.

RV is a possibility but tbh they've a western appeal half the time with their velvet tracks and their red stuff might not be well received. So it's still risky.

SM don't really have any group suited to Western audiences so i find it more cringe how they keep trying to force the appeal on them (Avengers of Kpop lmao) rather than try as the groups as they without catering to something they're not.

  • Aespa still has a chance to do well if they tone the avatar concept down and sing live more with easier choreo so they can focus more on stage presence but pushing nct In USA instead of exo wasn’t logical imo.

  • With superm the biggest problem was the marketing (calling them the avengers of kpop), the line up and the song choice so yes basically the whole thing was an embarrassment. They have 1 b-side which was pretty good but they should’ve at most promoted it as a collab kinda thing to not set themselves up. Kpop fans at the time wanted an exo comeback instead, so the timing wasn’t great either

  • Actually this makes the most sense

  • yes rv and exo are the best groups musically sm has ever created

  • maybe because its cringe?

  • SM needs to overhaul the producer helm because they aren't capable to creating friendly international songs

  • I don’t think so. Exo has too many members. RV don’t really stand out performance wise imo.

  • yes

exo and rv had the best recognition in the us.
