Why don’t more people stan Mamamoo?

  • They deliver vocals and mature, fun music/concept. But they never had that much hype. If you don’t stan them, what holds you back from stanning?

  • Not teenage-friendly. Mamamoo has a maturer concept that mostly appeal to young adults. They don’t attract die-hard teenage fans who’ll hype up and promote them the same way other kpop groups’ fans do. Mamamoo has been a top group for years but people tend to forget about them since their fandom isn’t very active.

Plus they’re not considered a visual group which again make them loose out on fans.

  • I do stan them because I have taste so can’t relate :siptear:

  • they lack in visual department and kpop fans nowadays are into younger idols

  • Why does this question keep coming up over and over about groups that aren't at the top?

The answer is always the same: They aren't from a big 4 company and they lack visuals.

  • I heard they're somewhat big in Korea, but not so much internationally unless you're a fan. Since RBW is garbage regarding promotion or international promo. They're the small company group that actually came from nothing to something. The real underdog. I don't think their music/concept is exactly catchy to general audiences. Being on Immortal Songs and Sketchbook helped tremendously to let the audience know they are talented.

But simple answer is; not big3 and lack korean 'visual'.

They don't need big3 anyways. If they were from big3 and with the way they don't give a fk about what they do, like their songs, imagine how 'slay' or 'queen' fans will pedestal them like current top idols. But then again, if they were from big3, they probably won't get that freedom to express themselves like now.

    Im a fan.

  • I don’t like their music and I don’t like solar’s voice. Indifferent about the other members voices except hwasa. I like her music more

  • I used to be a fan but then I unstanned, I realized that I didn't like most of their music, I felt like I was forcing myself to like them and watch their content after a while.

  • Most of their songs are an acquired taste.

Strong vocals don't make a mediocre song suddenly the summum of catchiness.

  • From the outside, it's what people have already said. Their demo is older and the visual thing.

Also, they lack repeat playlist factor.

  • I don't think having stans is something you should be proud of necessarily, having people being either combative or over protective, or any of the things that stans do is not necessarily a good thing. Having said that, Mamamoo have cemented themselves as true artists and are appreciated by many, they may not have rabid stans, but they have many fans who love their music.

I think people either don't know the origin or the story of the word. The stan was so obsessed with Eminem that he killed himself and his pregnant wife. Fans use the word loosely nowadays, and try morphing it into something 'positive'. Stanning someone is like street cred. lol

  • Their songs aren’t as widely appealing.

  • I feel like they used to be much more popular with international fans a few years ago.

Yeah I bet you're right about not knowing the story behind the term. But honestly thought, you can say they're trying to morph it into something positive, but it certainly doesn't feel like kpop fans and stan culture is positive at all.

  • Mature concept and slowing down activity's in the last few years

Fans treat KPOP as an Olympic sport ;-;. It just sucks, because we got so many great groups and pretty people to look at, but the focus isn't there. The focus is towards ranking, sales, and chartings.

    We're deviating from OP's topic ^^
