Advantage and Disadvantage: Large group vs small group

  • small groups (3-4) and large groups (7- 16)

    :peperain:

    Group skills :

    Large group

It's difficult to know the competence of each member because we know some of them can only have 5 seconds with the simplest part, which is not enough to say how talented they are

The company is really focused on the center, main vocal and rapper , the only thing they can do to stand out is doing solo project..but some agencies don't allow their idols doing that (or at least just 1)

Plus , I don't trust K-variety show and their survival show or live band : all their voice is made in the studio and can be rectified ,even famous K-Channel "It's Live" which is supposed to be live isn't

But as far as the global skills go, they've done a really good job, fans are really focused on the group and the music itself

    Small group

It's really the place where all the members can have a moment to show off their skills, obviously they have more line and more screen time, which is easy to be exposed in public eye

producer, stylist, makeup artist are really focused on their individuality and do their best (or at least they try) to show off their color

But the thing is .. it's not easy for idols , the more you are exposed, the more you have no right to make mistakes , you can be easly caught

The harmony of the group is not really praised and the chorus is often made by one or 2 members

    Dance skills :

no matter how you look at it, dance group with many members will always look better and can easily dominate the stage with simple choreo...they can do all those spectacular acrobatics move

while small groups need to make a catchy move with unknown and sometimes strange choreo ,they need to use their charm a lot

(but I'd rather watch a catchy dance with few members than bring backup dancers unless they bring a lot of dancers like 10)

In conclusion, 5-6 members is the best ... it's not considered small but it's not a large group too

    One take One shot 🍻

  • 3-5 - small

    6-8 - mid

  • the only problem i have with small grps is the fact that they are not able to command the stage + the stiff dancers are always visible

of course, there are some exceptions but thats my mainproblem

it took me like 3-4 weeks to get used to bts members cuse there are 7 of them but now that i'm used to seeing a grp, i dont mind seeing grps with 9 members

i also think svt look pretty cool as a 13 member grp because of how in sync they are while dancing but usually anything above 9 seems a little too much for a grp

  • same problem

  • one thing I'll add is in terms of finances and money

one would have to share the income equally between all members so assuming ceteris paribus, a soloist like IU selling 100K albums would be equivalent income to her as Twice selling 900K (again assuming ceteris paribus)
