Isn't this hypocrisy? Armys?

  • Nope. There is a reason why psy and boa will always remain bigger personalities than iu even though iu does better than them in korean digitals. There's a reason why iu is not even the biggest female soloist coming out of korea. The reason is she has done nothing other than digitals in korea. That's how relevant her records are. In future she will be as relevant as shin seunghun who is the best selling korean soloist of all time but still does not get mentioned alongside the names seo taiji, cho yongpil, psy or boa. Because their impact is nowhere to be found.

Also bts "failures" during 2013-2016 is what made the greatest korean artists of all time. Getting famous with one viral moment doesn't make you that which is why someone isn't even top 5 korean soloist of all time.

It is very much evident who is cooking up excuses here by acting like being popular in only one market is more important than being popular across the world.

What rot, during BoAs peak, digitals weren't even a thing?

Another dodge is to conflate multiple markets - as though success in one is an excuse for failure in another.

I completely accept that IU is irrelevant outside S.Korea and China to an extent. I have not problems stating that.

But on the other hand, in S. Korea, to deny her as the foremost soloist for the last decade..heck forget soloist, she beats up all groups including BTS in many ways.. that is just delusional.

But fans are by definition delusional when it comes to their idols.

  • No she doesn't beat many in anything other than korean digitals. "many ways" my foot..... She hasn't done anything other than having good korean digitals. There's a reason why she hasn't been able to hold a concert in a stadium even after more than a decade long "most successful career in Korea". Many soloists and groups have done even in the last decade. Let me add filter of "in the last decade" here which delusional fanatics of your faves like you need to prove the success and popularity.

  • Isn't it also Suga's biggest song on Spotify? The only track to surpass 200 million streams. But that's not the point.

The difference between IU and Suga is that he is about to do 200M streams with daechwitta on Spotify. And this track was released after Eight came out

That shows who’s the one carrying the track internationally

  • Heize and Suran were all released whiles BTS were still climbing on their international popularity. It’s dumb to extrapolate from such a long time ago to apply in the present.

I’m not going to call BTS flops just because their past tracks on their old albums aren’t doing their current numbers now, will I ?

And Suga alone is doing 200M on Daechwitta, a song he released right after Eight in the same year. He is that relevant

No one is talking about Korea popularity here. Some of you are just dumb focusing on one picture trying to discredit the BTS members.

IU is a queen in SK. BTS members are currently bigger than her internationally. And this is the truth.

Well ARMYs get angry when others say that BTS got popular only since 2017, guess their ascent like goal posts can move according to the argument.

I’m not going to call BTS flops just because their past tracks on their old albums aren’t doing their current numbers now, will I ?

Neither will I. I am sure they will be among the top ranks of soloists, if they are consistent in their activities and promote well.

And Suga alone is doing 200M on Daechwitta, a song he released right after Eight in the same year. He is that relevant

Both international and Korean popularity are being discussed. They should be.

And there are geniuses who think IU is not a queen in SK too.

The truth will be known only when they have put some distance from BTS as a group and are primarily pursuing solo careers.

Kpop soloists DISTANT from their groups don't do as well in S.Korea as their own groups, or non-Kpop solos. Taeyeon is the best case, since SNSD is truly in the past. Baekhyun/G-D less so.

Whether BTS members will break that pattern, we will have to wait and see.

I don't have much of opinion about international charts.

  • I do not like how some armys like to discredit other artists who collaborate with BTS. IU carried the track on kcharts and internationally carried it as much as suga did. I highly doubt audience would listen to it for the sake of producer only.

  • They seem to need a lot of handholding. Get it? Oh forget it.

  • IU is the eighth highest Korean act in overall streams on Spotify. She has more streams than NCT 127, (G)I-DLE, Itzy, NCT Dream and Enhypen. She has 3 songs over 100M streams in addition to her song with Suga and two more almost at 100. So clearly people are streaming her outside of Korea.

She has held concerts in stadiums before.. think Love Poem was in KSPO Olympic gymnastic park ..

But in S.Korea the goal to achieve when it comes to concerts is the Jamsil Olympic Stadium, where no female act - group/solo has ever had a concert. IU did plan for one and COVID delayed.

Still to answer cranks like you, - she is back. Go knock yourself out.

Digitals are the primary way music is consumed today - not concerts, not physicals, not radio/tv play.

So the act that dominates digitals, naturally is the most dominant in the industry.

  • bts always chasing famous people for collabs :peperun:

    chasing clout

  • Army hate Jungkook,

Meanwhile Jungkook get the one of the highest stream. Jungkook akgae want him to be a victim so much
