  • Because he’s a hot man

You can get away with anything when you are a hot dude

  • he has a pretty squeaky clean reputation as a nice person in the industry

is friends with lots of other celebrities

and there's a bazillion cults like that in Korea, I doubt they see it as a big deal. JYP is basically leading one himself.

  • Because he has looks innocent face. It's hard to remember that he was. I guess it's not exactly a proven case.

  • i consider any religion as a cult...so 8) ...i don´t care

  • Every religion is a form of cult so are you gonna cancel every idol who has a religion?

  • Has that cult done bad things to people? Otherwise, it doesn't matter.

  • what you talking about? the biggest jokes this weekend was he praying in the bathroom of the afterparty after all the madness

They tell members to reject medicine and only accept healing through exorcism and donating to the church. Yes, this includes things like chemotherapy, or being on an oxygen tank. Members who do it anyway are shunned. As you may imagine this has resulted in deaths. They're also the reason Covid got so bad in Busan, then in the rest of the country, because they refused to see a doctor with their symptoms.

They're connected to several other deaths, like that of a woman who was found dead (from external causes) at a meeting.

  • You can't be this oblivious. There is a good reason cults are treated differently from regular churches.

"Regular churhes" have done more if not the same amount of horrible things through the history as so called "cults"

And they're still doing horrible things. I'm not saying those churches are amazing.

But you cannot deny there are fundamental differences between the two, especially in the relationship between the movement and the individual. These differences are not necessarily due to established churches being morally superior but because it's simply impractical or impossible for them to behave the way entities conventionally accepted as cults do.

Cults take many things most churches do to an extreme. (Now you might say "but all churches do this to an extent!!" but try to compare it to drugs: trying crack once isn't good for your health either but it's not comparable to the effects of being on crack every single day.) Any church might try to ask believers for donations but cults might shun you if you don't support them financially even if you can barely afford it. Members of any church might look at you weirdly if you leave, but in a cult members will literally cut you out from their lives and talk about you like the scum of earth. Members of any church might believe that prayer helps a person heal, but the overwhelming majority of them don't reject actual medicine, let alone shun members who seek it (like the JCC does).

In addition cults often have a charismatic leader (or leaders) who is a complete authority over teachings. (Fully the case for JCC btw). Cults are also more closed off and secretive, so that they stay under radar with their unconventional and dangerous ideas.
