Do you think BTS hiatus will affect kpop consumption as a whole

  • nah BP as soloist are doing a much more natural entrance to the west scene, including A lists frienships and deals, they will be the staple of kpop for now and kpop as whole will still be succesful in their own niche in the same way as before, that is clear as the difference between bts numbers per individual thing, like song streams, views and album sales aren't that big unlike 2017-2019, charting will be dead and doubt we will see kpop groups in us things aside of touring and late shows musicals guest, except for BP but them as a group won't be doing too much after 2023-24. They will renew with yg and probably next year will put them as the top kpop act in the worlwide pov since BTS are mia, but then they will focus again in their solo careers, then KPOP will be dead as the hot thing it was in 2017-2024

    Don’t set bp up

  • Don’t set bp up

how is that setting them up though? other than BTS and BP, which kpop idols are actually getting to mix themselves with A lists of the west? any other actually charting there with gp? anyone being invited to more things than simply late shows and magazines?

  • These takes always make me laugh because K-pop is now thriving BECAUSE of BTS. That is why these newer groups overseas performances are well received. Newer gen is starting with a bigger overseas fanbase BECAUSE of BTS

Wut? Every Army i meet swears up and down that they're gonna leave Kpop without BTS. BTS has never had an impact on the rest of Kpop and never will. Other groups will go on, to both succeed and fail, regardless of what happens to BTS.

  • within the kpop niche, nope but outside that maybe.

  • Yeah. I think there will be a small surge of k-pop fans especially for 4th gen bgs. These will be the ones who were either casuals of these bgs already or fans but now BTS will move to the back for them.

The growth in new markets will also slow down, BTS opened up a lot of markets for both themselves and other acts with Dynamite like India.

What happens after that depends. If any other group is able to catch the wave or go viral then it might see some burst of popularity. But idk.

  • I’m thankful for y’all answers but… some of you need to read the OP. Never have I said kpop or any group will flop or people won’t ever be interested in it, I was talking about the people who ended up discovering by the exposure BTS has which is way bigger than any other group.

Just to make it clear! Now go on 8o
