I am all for free market and each idol getting the best deal they can get, but companies are seeing situations like Chuu, Apink Naeun, Mijoo Lovelyz, and these companies will do what they need to do to keep everyone under contract.
Look at Twice before their renewal. No one got a solo drama or a solo album except Nayeon, which I suspect that they only did to get her to renew including giving her the best female song from JYP last year, which really should have gone to nmixx or itzy.
$40 million is I assume the guaranteed minimum over 3 or 5 years.
If she does not renew, it will most likely cause companies to follow the Twice model, where solo opportunities are restricted until after they renew.

Ive's success is mainly only in Korea, and its mainly due to Kakao privilege. After Kakao is able dump 1/2 their shares in them, next year, there will be a lot less Kakao privilege. They just need to keep up the scam a bit longer and dump the shares.
lol they sell over 2M albums every year for a gross of 25 million. Then Yujin and Wonyoung's CFs are easily worth 15 million by themselves to the company. They have like 30 endorsement deals between them. Then you add in the millions from streaming and digital sales, merch, appearances, etc. 40 million is actually very conservative. There's a reason why the company is valued in the 9 figures USD and it's not because of K Will, Monsta X or WJSN be for real lol.

If they were grossing $40+ million USD / yr, why would Kakao sell? Kakao are not some small tinpot company. They literally own 100+ other companies. Preferring to invest in those 100+ other companies and $80 million USD on speculative AI technology instead of investing in Ive seems like they have lost faith in Ive, since they would rather invest in 101 other things. Their market cap is $21,000 million. $80 million USD is nothing to them.
If anything Japanese members hurt a group in Korea. They resent Japanese, even though most of them weren't alive in WW2. It is what it is.

Itzy had good initial songs, and their Japanese singles are good, but recent Korean releases are really average in quality.
Nmixx have had poor to average quality songs, with mostly poor quality ones. How can you build up a fandom if a song is that bad that it is unbearable to listen to it more than once.
Yes you can release trash like many established groups (aka Twice) and your fandom will bulk buy the trash, but you need to build up the fandom first with good songs.

Wonyoung wrecked it by getting a major PS, and Koreans don't like them as much when it is not natural beauty. Thats why as soon as NJ appeared, all the CFs flooded to them, as they are all natural.
I believe NJ is successful not because of Y2k or minimalistic concepts, but because their songs are very good in quality.
Because their songs are very good, they are organically viral and do not need to be sajaegi-ed. Note that others that have copied them are not having the same success, simply because their songs are not good.
Aespa problem is their sales are concentrated in China where they can't tour. But otherwise they seem to have the biggest and most loyal fandom among the 4th gen girlies
I was thinking maybe LSRF could secure good touring but looking at how much their JP sales decrease I'm no longer taking them for granted either
I feel strong Twice vibe from IVE i.e. if they keep focus in Korea they career will colapse much sooner than anyone's think. Having stabilished fandom overseas, specially Japan and USA are the key for long standing career
imho Ive's data in Korea is a mirage massively pumped up by sajaegi. Every other metric they are either last or 2nd last. They tried to fake it until they made it, but too bad for them NJ crashed their sajaegi party.
