So do like popular songs get added in or like do people pay for the songs to be added into playlists?
spotify curated playlists are definitely bought

Weren’t you around when they released the pink album? It was announced by Spotify. And it’s a known fact that premium subscribers are less filtered. I can understand if you just joined though. There’s a lot to learn.
ah, for charting purposes is true. i meant for the spotify charts, i dont think they have more filtering on free streams.
this is insane to pull. if there's no Europe tour they're definitely selling out their day.
bp getting coachella and bst, skz getting this. are festivals waking up to the fact kpop fans like to show up for their favorite bands?
makes me think that bts is missing out on reaping their rewards with this chapter 2.
also laughing at the rock fans that hate pop acts now having to deal with kpop as well lmao
Besides playlisting, there’s also Spotify free access deal.
BP’s 2022 comeback had the special Spotify deal for a week where non-premium streams were counted as premium and not as filtered. So the streams will help with charting. So far only Blackpink had this privilege, haven’t seen other kpop groups getting this free access deal.
where is the source for that info? how are we sure their filtering rate was impacted by that?
I think we're definitely seeing the end of 4th gen debuts, which will be capped with BABYMONSTER, don't know if you agree.
*If* they continue like this they just might get bigger than BTS (but not in terms of fandom), more GP recognition. They're young, debuted with an EP, a full album is coming and are the single focus of their label, which is backed by Hybe.
Is it safe to say they are the biggest 4th gen in group in the US?
undoubtedly. these numbers are too good, it's too be seen if they can get people in the seats, like skz. if hybe uses it's current clout they might actually have a decent promo campaign over there. and they're definitely shopping for labels right now.
what they need for BST are decent opening acts, which still haven't been announced. their day is not selling all that well to coast only on their name. it's 65k attendance. but they're probably waiting for Coachella hype or another possible release to get more visibility. there's definitely people travelling to London to see them, hopefully it'll be a better crowd.
oh cmon, green day was playing at the same time. yes he made the day sell out, but i imagine there were like 20k/30k people max on his stage which bonkers for a south korean rapper who had just had his debut album. bts could definitely pull 100k crowd just made of armys in a festival if not included in a bigger tour.
by 2025 newjeans will have become what bp was to bb and hybe will not hesitate to show how many moneymakers they have. not to mention that this dependency argument only works pre-enlisment, to not frighten investors. if the members want they'll definitely have a big tour when they come back and that will be a lot of money on hybe's books, in merch and ticket sales.
still not a good showing for a headliner. but maybe it'll be their jump to the mainstream.
Display MoreBTS shouldn't even be in this discussion if we talking about 3rd gen boy groups being outsold.
The last sufficient BTS album was in 2020 Map Of The Soul 7, which got 4 million pre orders, and is now at 5 million heading towards 6 lmao.
After that, they released BE which was a album for the fans and wasn't as much comeback effort put into it, plus from what BTS said, it was a last minute album to release that year.
Plus 3 singles after that and now a anthology album with only 3 new songs, with 2 being ballads and the most popular one being a b-side track.
So I feel before we start talking about BTS albums being outsold, we have to wait till they have another group comeback in 2025... Like a proper one like Map Of The Soul 7 or Love Yourself Tear.
THEN we can talk about numbers with BTS included.
Cuz I can bet my bank account they touching 3.5-4.5 million pre-orders in 2025 after their service, since fans would've been starving and its gonna be a huge come back for them.
Point of the story, BTS aren't being outsold, and 4th gen is all about mass buying now, which is why the streams never match the sales, nor do their charting.
BTS can't relate🙂.
they'll reach those numbers if they have the usual 4 versions.
the amount of music helps but this is not a good look for the gg that's headlining a big festival, like coachella. their physical sales were on par as well, no?
chinese fans bulk buy albums in korea
yes i checked the chart and it shows ~280k overseas sales and that's less than what one of their chinese bars orders i imagine.
how when they perform so poorly on korean streaming platforms. probably retail that then exports to other countries?
neither this link nor another i saw on twitter are working
BP has to leave YG, especially after reading that YG plead at court for leniency because of the Hallyu wave. Dude is miserable and has already made Babymonster "his baby".
