"Getting on a chart was never an option for me from the start, it was just about being me, doing what I want to do."
lol this mistranslation again. He didn't say it wasn't an option for him. He said he didn't write his album specifically with charts in mind. (you know like commercial albums/songs that are written just for that) Doesn't mean he doesn't care about charting. All artist do.
Audience reactions is public opinion. He wanted people who never heard him before give him feedback on his music. (didn't happen since there were mostly fans. Oh well) So idk what you are talking about.

I am also not defending HYBE and BH, there are many things for them to improve and if serious re sustainability.
The elephant in the room is that it can also simply be that Hobi consented to the Weverse Album because sustainability is something he supports etc. Combined with the JITB was originally a mixtape w/o physical release also makes sense.
I am playing Cookie Run Kingdom and Hobi’s design for his pieces and messages were all tied to sustainability. Also during the game promo - they even hi-lighted it.

So why would he agree to it if there were other options. It doesn't make any sense.
"sustainability" what? Cookie Run what? You people will be saying anything to exuse bh. I cant.

I have actually alluded to this before. Because I was getting weird feeling about JITB. Not just from commercial standpoint but musical standpoint too....
What I mean by this is that I think J-HOPE was also supposed to have 2 mixtapes like other 2 rapline members before all of them having their "official" solo releases. I think that was the initial idea presented to them. And that is also how JITB was created by J-HOPE too. I think he's been working on it since 'D-2' release (because I can totally see 'Dis-ease' fit on JITB very well). I mean you can't get JITB if you don't know 'Hope World'.....
Also it is very unusual for a commercial rap album to not have any collaborations at all. That's why I was predicting JITB to have at least 2 collabs like in every single thread since the news of the release broke out. But it didn't have literally any. I personally haven't come across such rap album for some time now. And you guys will see this with RM's and Suga's coming albums too. They will surely have at least 2 collaborations each. Because that is how rap albums usually are.
I personally think JITB was supposed to be released before BTS members starting their "official" solo releases. But I guess they delayed it to after FESTA dinner video because of 1. Lollapalooza & 2. To get everyone's attention away from FESTA dinner video.
Anyways everything about JITB roll-out was just weird. We can talk about everyday. But it just had alot of things from all different sides impacting it. So it's better to just move on. What happened has happened. Doesn't mean it should happen with others too. Let's enjoy the upcoming releases to the fullest. Peace.
Hoseok himself said he wanted JITB to be an official album, not mixtape. And he himself said he didn't want to have colabs so people would focus on him and his music only.
And it has nothing to do with Lolla or festa dinner. He filmed MORE in march... You don't pay attention to him at all or what?
lol of course. JITB release was treated badly, but other members will have proper debut, so who cares. It's just Hoseok, he doesn't matter I guess.

Believe me when I say this I fucking hate the way Hybe moves for solo promo of members and I ranted a lot about how they sabotaged jitb when it was released. But giving jin a physical and robbing jhope of it on purpose doesn't make sense to me. Since when did Hybe start favoring jin? That's why I believe they wanted to release a physical but there were some obstacles in the way.
If that was the case they could release it later, like vinyls(not even available at target for some reason) But no, nothing.
Imo they never planned to release it with cds and just wanted to use it to promote their useless app and to get kudoses from government.

And I guess the statement is that bh is incompetent since everything they could do wrong they did. Like 134340Moonchild said, Hoseok did as much as he could but it's not his job to find promo opportunities for himself. That's company job otherwise why artists even need to be under companies if they have to do everything themself?
And you people have been using that party as some kind of proof for something but it was just to celebrate his first album with his friends and people he likes, plus for networking. It wasn't promo, and it wasn't statement that he doesn't care about public opinion. Like he literally said he chose Lolla because he wanted public opinion on his music. So I don't even know what you are talking about.
-
They didn't decide anything. Hoseok wanted it to be an album. bh would be tots ok with mixtape since they wouldn't have to do anything.
And it wasn't last minute. He filmed MORE in march. Other members talked about two main songs then as well. They were preparing for Arson in april. There were plenty of time for cds. If they wanted they could do it, but they decided that Hoseok should save the planet all on his own I guess.

I agree with aclassyteaparty overall - we don’t know the full story and ppl be making assumptions and def projecting.
This person put it well too.

Expecting each member to be all the same in every little aspect again of their solo work is missing THE point.
we are not talking about artistry here.

They aren’t shipped out yet. Maybe they are yet to be produced and these vinyls were limited if I remember correctly
ly vinyls aren't shipped out yet either but they were available for preorder at target from the start. The same with Jin's cd I assume. And they are still available on weverse so I don't know about them being limited, but lets be real if they were available at target more people would buy then.

I feel like JITB is a guinea pig. BHM wants to see if an album is released solely on wvs album format (their newest business advancement), how much will it sell? They only said it’s a “bold and fresh attempt”. Also since it’s in 3Q they wont worry about revenues since it’s in the same quarter with PROOF release.
But now with the price they need to pay anw (shareholders questioning, fandom backlash) I hope they go back to square one.
imo bh didn't even want to release his album at all. That's why that whole rollout was so lackluster.
-
I am not talking about pricing, but something as important as the format of his own solo album would not have been kept from him and I don't think they would have released it in that format without his consent either.
It is very likely that Hybe has seen the backlash that Weverse album got from the fandom and decided to release physicals from now on.
Well, they are under contract and were with the company since they were teens. So there is power imbalance right there. So of course bh can convince them to do something even if it's not beneficial for them, but beneficial for the company. And it's not just about BTS. Plenty of other artist had this kind of situations with their companies. Usuall stuff.
-
How can I tell you why if I don't know. That's why I'm asking. I mean, ot7s told me it was because it won't sell, there is no demand or that what he wants. So you know, it's better to be a solo stan then hypocritical ot7 who claim to love and support all members equally but tots ok with this situation or defending the company while throwing Hoseok under the bus.
-
Anyway, so what happened to that "save the planet" thing?

Well I for sure think they don't have as much power in that company as you people think they have. Like Jin didn't even know about his pajamas cost, Jimin didn't know about his song being in Marvel movie, Tae didn't know songs from 3d cd from Proof are not on streaming platforms, RM recently said he wanted to go to movie premiere and then he learned he was invited but bh declined without even telling him. Those are just few examples, I bet there are much more if you search for it.
So yes, I believe Hoseok wouldn't agree to this kind of treatment of his album if there were other options available.
-
Your comment is killing me
That just the truth, you know. According to the fandom, at least.
-
That was Jin's decision. He choose it to be this way and he obviously doesn't want to chart. Trust him.
