seems like a weird thing to celebrate.

the innuendo is clear. i don't know why people are lying about the song's lyrics not being sexually suggestive.

reddit is the only place where i don't post opinions that are unpopular because people love to hit that downvote button over the mildest takes.

in korea it isn't. if this was about lgbtq+ people being jailed i'd ofc be furious and say that nobody deserves to be in jail by being born a certain way but this is about drugs. dealing drugs is punishable by law, my friend is sentenced to 3 years in prison for dealing marihuana (i'm from southeastern europe). he knew that was a possibility and he did it anyway. korea went even further, they are punishing users too. she also knew that was a possibility and she did it anyway.
and stop comparing lgbtq+ people with drug users, i'm begging you
but in my example people aren't being jailed for their sexuality but for acting on their sexuality i.e. they are choosing to engage in sexual relations with someone of the same sex when they could instead choose to remain celibate. if it's an act punishable by law and someone gets arrested for engaging in that act, couldn't one just as easily say that they knew the risks and have no one to blame but themselves?
my whole argument is that just because something is illegal doesn't mean that it's immoral, that not all laws are reasonable or just, and that defending the imprisonment of drug users for no other reason that it's against the law is incredibly dumb.

you really aren't dropping comparing drug users to lgbtq+ people
for the sake of argument, yes. there are still many places in the world today where being part of the lgbtq+ community and using drugs are both seen as degenerate behavior. do those countries have the same right to jail and even execute lgbtq+ people that south korea has to jail drug users?

her personality has always been grating to me. i'm sure she's a nice person but i'd be lying if i said i didn't cringe whenever she would pop up on loona tv and other content.

For weed I agree, and most Koreans' opinions have loosened on weed.
But she's been arrested multiple times for dealing and doing much harder drugs. She also failed drug tests on probation.
Also YG's lawyers caught her in lies under oath and got her to admit to making false statements to police, which is why YG is going to win his case. She also admitted to trying to blackmail YG. She's also had several outbursts in court, threatened judges and had to be reprimanded.
In addition to being a proven liar she's just an all-around awful human being.
There are some things that she's said, did and believes that most Kpop fans are not aware of for the most part that are absolutely appalling.
i know she's done other illegal stuff and if they want to send her to jail for that, that's fine. but failing a drug test during probation, even if it's something harder than weed, should never be a reason for someone to be sent to prison imo. personally i think all drugs should be legalized but i know that's kind of an extreme position so i think at the very least they should be decriminalized and users offered the option of rehabilitation.

i'm not saying i agree.
i don't know why are you comparing those things. being gay is who you are, you were born like that, it's not a choice. doing drugs is. korea sees it that way and is punishing everyone who makes that choice
again, i'm not saying i agree with that but everyone in korea is aware of the consequences of that choice.
(i want to preface this post by saying that i am fully supportive of gay rights.)
one could make the argument that being gay isn't a choice but engaging in same-sex relations is a choice. so if they were to criminalize sex between two members of the same sex instead of criminalizing just being attracted to the same sex, would you still be okay with that? their country, their rules and all that.
