I don't think it would. There are some that enjoy kpop for the music but I don't think that's the majority, I think the fantasy of hot single idols sells and it sells well, parasocial relationships make a lot of money for companies, especially when you target a certain audience.

My family know I like kpop but that's it, I don't tell other people in my life I like kpop because I know some of them are kpop fans also but they annoy the fuck outta me so if they know I like it then that means we have something in common and I have to talk to them which I'd rather not do

To me, if you're performing an art, whether that's singing, dancing, composing, rapping, whatever, you're an artist. A lot of people who disagree with this just throw that word around for fan wars and to shade people.

The number of times I've seen things like this said:

"MY FAVE writes all their lyrics, they're a true ARTIST, they care more and work harder than your flop fave wah wah wah" but you'll never see them dragging famous western performers for not writing their songs.

I've personally never seen you do anything shady, I keep seeing the same people say you made death threats but no one has posted a receipt of it and that's a pretty big accusation to make so until I see that with my own eyes, I won't just follow the crowd and believe that was said.

The thing is, if someone already sees you in a negative way then everything you do will seem negative to them, even if your intention is completely innocent.
