That's wrong.
They have much better Korean chart longevity than Twice. They debuted in 2014. They still chart on MelOn Daily and can get a top 30 song in 2024.
Name the girl groups that can claim that.
Twice isn't on that list. Red Velvet is.
They still chart but they don’t have 9 top1 hits like twice does, were never the group with the most cumulative sales and one of the highest touring numbers. Twice overall career is still more impressive. I’d take twice anytime over red velvet if I were an investor.

I mean it depends on what you’re talking about. The highest highs they achieved were less impressive but their longevity was very strong. In some ways I think they are at least more legitimate in that category than a group like Twice which was really only popular for 2-3 years before their decline started.
Red velvet haven’t achieved anything in their career that twice haven’t. Few songs that did well on Korea chart when there’s multiple flops between is great but doesn’t compensate for it. Even now that twice declined, they still make more money than red velvet ever had

Gfriend had a humongous year in 2015. Me Gustas Tu was HUGE. And in 2016, you could easily make an argument for GFriend being as popular as Twice. Digitally, Rough and Cheer Up were comparable just like Ditto and I Am.
2017 is when the decline started, but GFriend's peak warrants their inclusion.
Anyone who was around for those years wouldn't dismiss GFriend like that.
That’s nice and all but still doesn’t make them on the same level as other top groups who 2 years later and at the the end of 3rd gen they weren’t even comparable with anymore like twice and blackpink so I understand both takes. Personally I think that makes them high mid tier

4th gen is great. While I like the girlgroups music better, the boys make better music than 2nd gen by far. I do realize lately that even in 3rd gen it was only a few boygroups making good songs
