I particularly like the concept of Nintendo's Amiibos wherein they are trained by you, to fight against or for you in Smash.

I don't own a switch or an amiibo, but I recall playing against "learning bots" and it was quite interesting how they can find, exploit and genuinely highlight the weaknesses of your gameplay. I genuinely don't recall the game name. I'm sorry. Personally, I think one should be able to play against and train with learning bots, and keep saves of favorite ones to play with or against later.

Not as favored by me but I like the easy-medium-hard bots from League of Legends. It helps a user blow off steam or learn the fundamentals of League as a Playstyle.

crucially, and I kick myself for not listing this part explicitly, That the old topics are still topics relevant today, that they can still be discussed upon in meaningful length despite their... historical provenance.

It would partly be a hall of fame, but clinically, a "living" hall of fame. A collection of curated topics that are "timeless" and are just as relevant as before as they are now to anything about an AKP user. I posit that the only criteria are that these threads should not have dependency on recency and thus can be talked about for a much longer duration after its posting.

Quality of these threads... well the apple is in the eye of the beholder. Some may yet still fail, but I feel that the current system condemns particularly old threads that did not make it to notoriety the first try to be forgotten to the Nth page of whichever board they were posted in or moved to.

Yeesh That's one Helluva Presidential Curse.

kinda reminds me about the parable about how Defense against the dark arts teachers in Hogwards always meet unseemly ends or never continue to teach consecutive years.

for airplanes, especially short hop ones, think of it like getting on the bus. It isn't quite a lounge for relaxation, yet there's no pressing need to do anything in a hurry.

Thus: I'd recommend doing an activity you like that can be done in cramped quarters. If you're up for it, movies, music, sleep (i'd caution this one) writing, reading, drawing, etc.

Capturing photos is fun too tbh. that and sightseeing from above the clouds.

That's what I think would make a great plane ride, anyways.

I guess I probably already replied but here's my two cents as they are as of writing:

My family has taught me to:

    1. Filter the water. Buildup from the faucet, dust from the air ought to be removed.

    2. Boil the water. Biological sanitation mostly, also to remove stuff like Chlorine, Fluorine, etc. (mostly, the boiling happens in a hot water dispenser, a portion of which is set out in glass pitchers to cool to room temp.)

    --- yapping at this point---

After really thinking it over, I think that the second version ought be replaced with Thermal distillation, to be sure that all that is making it over is water, or roughly in the same boiling temp neighborhood. It would be extremely energetically costly, but a heat pump set up wherein the hot side is for boiling, and that heat is recovered on the cold side for condensation would be ideal. Then a "keep warm" pot. Realistically, A Zojirushi hot water dispenser would be nice, so that the water is still hot on demand.

A version that is more accessible, would be to use extraneous heat from cooking (heat that radiates out and down from a gas burner) to periodically distill water, and then keep that water hot and on demand in a hot water dispenser.

How about some examples of what you'd choose? Any threads inciting a fanwar mean automatic disqualification, just FYI :*

The golden thread by YouChan, I think it has a high bar for entry and might be better made into a metathread of proposals and discussions for each in their own threads. It was, I think, the best thread I can recall.
    Create Your Dream K-Pop Company
I'm sure there is plenty of "Your Own [ Company, Group, MV, album]" threads to be had. these are all high bar for entry but what I imagine to be very rewarding threads. I envision this as a hard

I remember a "post your art here" thread where it's like a metathread of art threads (the OP is used as a directory for ppl's artworks) but I think I was hallucinating this one.
But here are examples of simple art threads here:
    Fanart [no H, pls]

    Art contest:
allkpop fall & winter art contest
WINNERS of the fall & winter art contest

Not this thread specifically, but threads about the forum in general.
The Art Of Akorns and Spamming
    --Sub group: AKP weddings
    VIOLETPEACH WEDDING

...etc. You get the gist. Note that weddings of this sort may actually be "time sensitive" as showing up to a discussion about a wedding is (to me) emotionally tantamount to seeing all the parade floats, but after the parade as they are, parked in a lot. Or going to a birthday party, a bit after everyone left but staff hadn't started cleaning yet. TL;DR this may not be a good fit for what I was describing in terms of time insensitive threads, however they made it on for the sheer community building and thought provocation.

    threads about kpop in general:
What is Kpop and what does it mean to be a Kpop idol?

    Slice of life threads:
    School Life Thread 🏫

-- Sub group: "Asking You Threads" (may or may not have raided Selfie's thread collection for this part)

Men Come Here - Are you a Boob or Butt Guy? (<<interesting bit of AKP history I don't think it'd be popular now for various reasons)

Comment about the slice of live threads and the AKP weddings threads, I think it also relates to the age demographic. Shipping and whatnot. It also requires one more thing: Understanding.

I'm probably being overly preachy about this but for these wedding threads and slice of life threads kind of require understanding between users in a way that most of the "kpop current events" threads don't offer. My one critique is that most of the surface-visible threads currently, and this is most likely an overgeneralization, can be summed up by "this happened, state your take on the matter" I guess that's somewhat rich coming from me with my sub-100 thread count, but what I was driving at was this:

    >> I hope that the forum, in the future, might also focus on the users themselves as well to build community. If that doesn't happen naturally, perhaps some motivation is great. So that we're all acquainted, not some anon on a social media.

I feel like a boomer lol unironically reminiscing on the good ole days.

What is this referring to? We haven't removed any of the thread boxes, just added, or was this before even the 2021 revamp?

Its wasnt a feature haha (im sorry for the confusion) I meant that I think it'd be a neat new addition! (I came just after revamp heh)

    I volunteer to curate threads!

    edit: Clarification:

I miss old thought provoking threads, not a feature heh. my thread box idea was a proposal to reccomend random old threads with topics that weren't really sensitive to time, to spark up old discussions.

Nice find. Begs the questions if we should try "Activity", but I haven't been as displeased as that guy with what has been shown.

I was happy w hotness tbh recent controversies have staying power there.

it would absolutely kneecap any old threads like PYRT tho (not that it matters in this case)

i had a old man moment tho when i wanted to find old threads that i liked in the past...

I think that there should be a sort of sorting between "time sensitive" and "time insensitive" topics. (e.g. Yiren's Xinjiang cotton weibo post, vs design your kpop company).

Then the hope is that a small box would randomly show an old time insensitive thread. "auto necro-thread" lol. (personal comment: i think bots tend to accidentally necro a thread relevant to their ad, rather than necro threads being bot-bait)

I really liked the time insensitive, general topics since it got ppl to think, and how they replied showed a bit about how ppl think. it was the main element of community I personally miss, at least.

There is a "hotness" ranking you can sort by. Yes, it's literally called that and that's all the detail it gives. So your guess is as good as mine what it actually entails. If I had to make an "educated" guess, probably some ratio of views to replies coupled with age, seeing as that's what they display as stats under it.

    nvm found it

Hot threads, recent threads dominate - WoltLab®
I have hot threads box available on home page. Sadly, it is dominated by recent posts than popular content. By all metrics, like most liked, most viewed etc,…
    www.woltlab.com

    its a couple posts down

edit: so i was right (you too) :D but minus the reactions bit

    edit2: forgor to Ripia

my knee jerk reaction is that its some sort of biased average between post frequencyn and view frequency. maybe aggregate reaction freq as well but that seems excessive
