Not only are Red Velvet doing exceptionally well 8 years into their career but they had one of the BIGGEST obstacles to face when Wendy’s accident happened and RV as a full group went on a hiatus from late 2019 all the way to the summer of 2021 when they released Queendom. Just a few months short of 2 years with NO full group comebacks. It’s insane when you think about it actually.
Granted there were solos here and there and I&S subunit which all did relatively well but those types of activities are never quite the same as a full blown group comeback imo.
Let’s remember Red Velvet were regularly having 2-3 comebacks a year up until that hiatus. Can you imagine how much more popularity they could have attained in that timeframe between Psycho and Queendom being released? For more context on how long this break actually was, Twice was able to release 2 mini albums and 1 full album during RV’s OT5 hiatus.
Honestly I’m gonna be truthful here and say I was unsure whether Red Velvet could bounce back after everything that happened to them post 2019 especially as they were a GG and a hiatus that long this late in a groups career is super detrimental. BUT….boy was I wrong! They really did rise like a phoenix out of the ashes and prove everybody wrong about them being “over” “has beens” “disbanding”.
Karma really is a sweet thing and I’ll never get tired of luvies hyping them up because it’s so f**king deserved after all bashing threads that were made against RV, even right here on Allkpop. Now we have confirmation from the members themselves that they are getting multiple comebacks this year, things are finally right again in the universe and SM for once is actually investing in them as they should. We love to see it!

I’ve been a casual fan since 2014 and never in my life did I ever think they’d sell this much in just 2 days.Proud is an understatement, luvies y’all came through! I’m just happy SM is breathing new life into RV again with the budget and promo this era and it’s clearly doing wonders for them success wise.

Amazing to see Red Velvet do so well in album sales now that’s more closely related to their actual general public popularity.
This is what happens when SM actually invests and give them good album packaging and longer pre order period. Luvies went all out this comeback and for good reason! The song is a boppity bop bop bop

It’s actually so funny how much flack Red Velvet used to get for their dual concept but now it’s the VERY THING that has kept their stability and longevity over the years where other groups have failed to maintain that same relevancy.
SM clearly making a statement with this comeback that Red Velvet are here for long term! Every comeback just feels so god damn fresh you forget they’re an 8 year old group lmao. Anyways I’m madly in love with their title track this time can’t stop listening to it!

It’s amazing to see Red Velvet still peak in popularity after 8 years like wow. 500K+ is amazing for them and a huge increase from their last album showing that they’re still gaining new fans each era.
it’s even more funnier knowing some users here were wishing for their disbandment and saying they were over and gonna flop but nah RV ain’t going anywhere! We love to see it!

This concept is seriously 10/10 oh my lord! After hearing the description of the title track, seeing these teasers and Joy saying she loved the song on first listen - this is most likely going to be a velvet comeback I can feel it in my bones!
It honestly makes sense that this album is called Reve Festival 2022 because it really does feel like it’s connected to Psycho era, I just know my girls are gonna eat this up. Can’t wait!!

Ever since Weekend’s success I feel like something shifted in the water at SM because the budget and promo she is getting for this album is just *chefs kiss
I mean two music videos for one album, a music show promo, radio shows, her first ever studio choom and now this! It’s so nice to see effort being put into her because she so freaking deserves it. Usually Taeyeon dips after her album is out lmao so this is such a nice surprise.
Her Spotify and Melon followers are quickly rising everyday as a result and INVU is on its 15th All-Kill already. You see this is what happens when you actually promote her SM. Still peaking 15+ years into her career we love to see it!
