i saw Jessi numbers on Youtube Charts KR and... something there is confuse
according with their weekly song chart the song made 8 millions just with 2 days
https://charts.youtube.com/cha…ongs/kr/20211008-20211014
ok them i analyzed the videos on "general" youtube and not in the chart site
that of course is worldwide
MV on her channel 9,8 KK
mv on stone music channel 1,8KK
the official video: less than 700K
so how she made big numbers like that with 2 days when the total of 5 days is less 13KK worldwide?
someone can say that 90% of the listeners are koreans and they all decided to stream the mv because is a performative song, right?
nop, according to own youtube music video charts, the mv in these 2 days made less than 2KK in Korea
https://charts.youtube.com/cha…deos/kr/20211008-20211014
so how?? the only explanation is that they are count even that performances that they released before without the full song
some covers
and who knows even maybe reacts
aleatory background music
etc
my theory makes sense because i saw another things
IU Twenty Three jumped to the top 20 in some June week in the song charts
https://charts.youtube.com/cha…ongs/kr/20210618-20210624
its because 1million of koreans made 23 years that week? mm no what a coincidence would have been
its because of the Arin cover, that cover has IU/Loen credits so the algorithm just guessed that was IU lol
then i thought "oh ok is about credits so not much to say"
but not really that Jessi performances on the mney survival dont have credits but yet is the only thing that made sense for explain that numbers
then i scrolled more
and again more confusion
i found on another week a Jam Jam Live on the MV charts with 200k of.views
https://charts.youtube.com/cha…ongs/kr/20210402-20210408
i clicked but then is not Jam Jam
its a Holic video with dlwlrma as bgm

but yet the algorithm put that as Jam Jam live
wtf
and the best part, the video actually has just 19k of views
so my final thought is: the dude who is responsible for Youtube Charts KR really sucks on his job
not just him but the algorithm is a mess
maybe this can explain a bit why someone like Lisa who is no one there made 5Kk in the song charts first week
better numbers than IU and Taeyeon new releases
so maybe maybe is not just a fandom thing but also how fucked their algorithm is
this is really a random essay
but i need to post somewhere and i decided post here on akpop
i was cheering for youtube numbers on Gaon but im not sure anymore
because as you can see their charts are a mess
i could bring more and more examples but i chose IU because as an uaena i am familiar with and also i can show an ""unbiased"" side since she can benefit from this mess too
sorry for the bad english, but i think that anyone can understand
youtube chart is a mess lmao.
i remember in march/april during the firsts 2-3 weeks of lilac they weren't counting AT ALL the mvs views in the total song streams. on the second week it had like 14M views in the mvs chart (worldwide) but it wasn't charting in the "top songs" one when the cutoff was around 9M.
her page was also saying coin had double lilac views

Looks like it was still true for Kill This Love in 2019 that was also released at 12AM.

I wonder how Gaon certification works at this point, seems like they are a bit late?
IU Celebrity has passed 100 million streams on Melon. around May-June. And that's just Melon alone. On Genie it had 40-50 million streams by the same period. So Genie+Melon 140-150. With other charts added I think it is safe to say that by the time Gaon gave the 100 million certification the song had 200 million streams already on all platforms. So how the fuck does Gaon count? Why the certifications are so late?
Aespa Next Level has over 90 million streams on Melon and over 30 million on Genie. It is also already eligible for 100 million certification.
the use filtered streams not the actual ones

Maybe BP would be counted for artists or do they only count 2021 releases?
from december
-
lol indeed. that sound so random. then may brave girls get 2 bonsangs for all the wmpa the got.^^
one bonsang per artist. and majority of their streams come from 2 non eligible songs, but i guess they'll give it to them anyway

I didn’t. Year over year digital points have gone down. This is true. This has no relevance to the answer you gave me.
And in the next post I mentioned that melon and digital points were different things when the OP brought up this years releases and not older releases. If you can’t follow along conversation it’s not my fault lol.
the fact that it went down doesn't mean that gaon changed the method they use to calculate it . i just told you a reason why it went down.
so, since they were calculated in the same way, you can more or less still compare new songs with songs of the past couple of years
and anyway, wasn't the other person comparig it with rollin? can't you even compare hit from the same year now?
The two metrics are different? That’s a streaming chart and digital points is inclusive of all digital sales including downloads.
the fact that melon is different from gaon doesn't change what you said about "staying more in top10 > digital points". that, imo :) , it's not true since DP are ,in the most part, indipendent from other songs performances. contrary to their position in a chart.
and this doesn't mean stay high in chart doesn't matter, just that comparing two songs with high and somewhat similar performances just based on that when there's a logic point sistem to do so doesn't seem that reasonable to me :)
and btw you can't even follow your own arguments and expect me to? lol.
argument started with someone comparing digital points
you: DPs are not that important. how long you stay in top 10 etc is
them: is it? this gg has more dp in the same amount of time but stayed less in top 3 on the platform that has more weight on gaon!
you: melon and gaon are different
and then you come telling me this last statement is relevant to your first statement. if you say so...
-
Yeah I already know this and said the same thing lol.
you know what lol? i literally quoted you. and you saidd the opposite
-
No. gaon didn't change the way they calculate the digital points. they are low because a big source of digital points is low, downloads.
digital point is the best way to compare songs. it doesn't depend on competition like "How long you spend in the top 10".
you can clearly see that one week you can be n1 with 30M points and another week you can be 4th with 30M points.
being n1 doesn't make the first song performance better if we're talking about sales and actual music consumption.

In a recent financial statement released by Kakao Entertainment, it stated its stake on Edam Entertainment is about $9 million
Since Kakao Entertainment owns 40% of Edam, the rest is controlled by her and she controls (probably owns through proxies, a common practice in Asia) 60% of Edam, so her value of Edam alone is $13.5 mil
source?

Its just that normally a song that performs well has similar downloads
not this year apparently :)
