I think Yeonjun has always been the most popular TXT member in China, and one of the most popular Kpop idols in China amongst 4th gen and even 3rd gen. The group is also rising in popularity there so it's not a surprise that there is a linear upwards trend in Yeonjun's popularity for recent comebacks.

You are either still in the 3rd generation or you are in the 4th generation. I don't think it's necessary to make up the term half and half. It probably started with TXT AND ITZY. But the groups that came before them, like Gidle, are considered to be in the 4th generation. You can tell which groups are in the 4th generation by their choreography and musical style.
It's actually not so clear-cut. Many styles/concepts and choreography can be imitated or re-invented.

Juyeon says The Boyz are 4th gen (video from 16 September 2022), and they debuted December 2017, but maybe you know better. (4:29, and 25:40, where he says ATZ, SKZ, and TBZ are all 4th gen).
Is this self-proclaimed or

Agree. Some fans think that achievements within a shorter period of time equates to being bigger, which is not necessarily so.

Think The Boyz is not 4th gen? They debuted in 2017

I'm pretty sure that JYPE is utilising the popularity of this subunit to gain traction and fans.

Actually Twice's recent releases are not the cute, bubbly concept anymore
They are considered more "pop" poppish, especially for title tracks.
So, I think the comments here probably didn't listen to all their songs, especially B-sides.

I'll go with the characteristics of an idol, which revolves around the main key elements of performance i.e. sing, rap, and dance. Since when did producing/writing lyrics become a characteristic of a Kpop idol?
Being able to write lyrics, produce songs sound like a crew/backend job instead of an idol.
And being an ace means being the best/skilled in the key areas (sing, rap, dance). Some idols can do one aspect well but not more than one, some can do all (mediocre).
I think considering all areas of performance, to stage presence, facial expressions, TXT's Yeonjun does all well at a high level. He's better than most idols named above in my view.
So Yeonjun of TXT

Voting has always been about concerted efforts, involve a lot of coordination and determination. It does not necessarily correlate to fandom size.
Some groups have many fans but they are either just too busy or have less time to spend on voting.

I don't see any charts posted above idk if it's bugging , but even when you look at albums individually go live and in life are the most streamed albums by 4th gen. They even hold the record for most streamed 4th gen song on Spotify with gods menu. I'm sorry but I can't say txt has better Spotify streams than skz. Their charting on the other hand is something skz doesn't have we were happy they finally charted for the first time lol
But in overall streams I think TXT is higher? It's not only about 1 or 2 songs and let's not forget that SKZ debuted earlier than TXT so their songs are gonna be more on the list.

hard to compare youtube views because some youtube videos use ads and all
I don't think views is a good indicator
