It's a little silly to compare touring numbers between a veteran girl group of 7 years to a one year old rookie. newjeans certainly doesn't have that kind of fandom power yet. but people are tuning into their music.

I anticipate that they'll definitely be giving the top groups a run for their money once the members get older and there's less of a stigma surrounding stanning them.

also, they haven't begun western promotions yet but they're poised to do well there too: all the members speak english, a couple of them fluently, and their recent songs are like 60% in english anyway.

it's truly the blinkification of armytwt. every solo stan group has the same narrative: army hates my fave but loves the other members. which, if you follow it to its logical conclusion, means that army actually hates every member of BTS and are apparently stanning nothing!

solos are vile but pjms truly take the cake for being the most angry and delusional. I don't know why they can't just accept that seven is a smash hit and make peace with it. as a Jungkook bias, you'll never see me crying about the fact that V has the biggest China bar or that Suga has the most solo streams. They're far too deep into identifying with their bias and his success.

I can't take any K-pop list seriously that doesn't include Tell Me in the top 3. It outimpacts almost everything on the list.

There are legitimate complaints about newjeans and their content, but this was never one of them. The idea that a song by a Korean teen pop group would have anything to do with Basque terrorists is so outlandish that I can't believe it gained any traction whatsoever.

It's just MHJ's past transgressions that have made people hyper-vigilant and pick over everything about newjeans with a fine-toothed comb.

The thing that surprised me was when I saw actual, large fanbases get involved in dragging Jungkook through the mud.

Akgae slap fights are whatever, they happen all the time and every member has their nasty stans, but you'd think a fanbase, especially one representing a specific country, would attempt to keep a modicum of professionalism about themselves. These people are adults having mental breakdowns over pop music achievements It's unfortunately the effect of identifying too much with the success of your favorite artist.

Thankfully though, I think the fandom came together and did the best they could for Seven, all things considered. Army might be partly in hibernation mode right now, but they still got it.

Ive, Aespa, NewJeans and Lesserafim are all good. My favorite musically is probably NewJeans.

the akgaes I've seen crafting conspiracy theories about how Scooter Braun is this 4d chess playing mastermind villain giving Jungkook all these achievements on a platter is sooooo hilarious in light of the fact that his flagship artist (Justin Bieber) had to go on IG and beg fans to buy his music. Hybe really cares about giving the appearance that they're not totally dependent on BTS (spoiler: they are). It's better for them and investors if it looks like they won't instantly tank the moment BTS declines or the members enlist.

Now that NewJeans is on a roll, they're going to keep pushing and pushing them. Which is fair game as a music label, that's their job. I just don't think Hybe will ever produce a 2nd BTS in terms of success.
