Hot100 numbers are out and I don’t think they made it. It would have been super close since they were predicted at #99

Flo and Genie needs to move
ILLIT has 51,000 unique listeners at 9AM. At this point I’m expecting a 400k peak

Magnetic has reached 51k hourly ULS as of 9AM. That’s a 10k difference from #2
. Not sure if they can close the gap today, but would they be able to peak higher than Fate?

I can get behind this

4th gen bg era never began for it to end. NCT barely counts because their fandom was already built in the 3rd gen, 4th gen bgs who were debuting and building their fanbases in the 4th gen were always flops on charts to the point that a debut on the top 500 on melon was considered an achievement lmfaodbewiuhof
Even with the best charting 4th gen boy groups like TXT they never had a viral hit. They peaked at #19 which isn’t bad, but in comparison to 5th gen…
TWS AND RIIZE were able to make it into top 10 on the daily charts (#2 and #4) on their debut/first comeback.

TXT was the only 4th gen bg to chart on melon daily charts…

Talked about this sometime back in another thread. But the only factor that makes sense is 3rd Gen boy group hiatus especially BTS. They were siphoning a lot of fans and creating a large shadow over the bg landscape. After their hiatus, if you have noticed, boy groups have been doing much better compared to 2021 and earlier
I think so. The hiatus of 3rd gen bgs left a vacuum in Korea that 5th gen boy groups could pick up on.
But we’re well within BTS’s hiatus now and 4th gen boy groups haven’t been doing much better. Maybe they debuted at the wrong time and it’s too late for 4th gen boy groups to garner attention from the GP.

It never started for 4th gen boy groups in Korea. We had multiple hits from 3rd gen boy groups and TWS plot twist & Riize just debuted and they are already making rounds above 4th gen bgs.
The 4th gen bgs sell well internationally but... The ggs still exceed the bgs when it comes to streams in Korea & internationally.

I know this a digital thread but it looks like they had a bump in streams AND SALES too.
I think they were able to rise after j Cole release

As expected on Sunday, the gap between fate and magnetic reduced to 34k ULS. It’s going to be a very close call tomorrow but I think magnetic can catch up to #1 if it keeps momentum.
It’ll take a while for other charts (genie and Flo
) to move though.

I’ve been seeing KPOp Stan’s using autoplay to undermine magnetic’s success. It just shows how dumb ppl can be
-
even if payola exists ( if it does , all big labels are capable of that, mind u! ) , it will only work for a week , thats why u see streams going down after day 3 in most cases unless it gets gp support. in short, its a legit hit by now even i never expected " magnetic" to be this big knowing belift . it also depends on the song, it needs to be the right song for this new/young generation to be a hit. thats why not all bts members are getting hit /viral songs though all get decent streams on spotify bec fd is so massive but u see it dropping on 3rd day. i think its just jungkook's song seven that was really a global massive hit & jimin's like crazy bec both are trendy and fun.
in short- right promo, right song to the right artist and knowing how to sustain it and keep the interest of gp are the reasons why will it be a hit globally. saying its good or bad , its quite subjective --it is based on ur taste not necessarily the truth.
Spotify will count it after 30 seconds, which is more than enough time to skip
. Auto play alone isn’t giving magnetic these huge numbers.
