It depends what the survival show is based on, if it's based on raw vocal talent then the kpoppers are at a disadvantage, but if the show is based on overall performance, including dance, then I think the kpop starts would win if things were being judged objectively

as a long time fan of the girls I honestly wouldn't mind if they focused less on music if that's what they wanted and pursued other interests like acting, producing, fashion, etc. obviously I wish for new music but for me the worst part of these hiatuses is not the lack of music it's just the lack of activity in general. It's not like BP's schedules are jam packed during these hiatuses, save for Jisoo the only time we see the rest of the pinks is when they go to LA or hang out with some celebrity

FR FR! I think I Feel Good is their first song that should have gone viral. It's so addicting. Plus, the dance is really catchy and memorable

But unfortunately I think most of the articles that era were about the member lineup changes

Funny seeing songs like Next Level and ASAP on the "flop list" because I remembered when they came out the forum hated them/were disappointed but then when SK started liking these songs the forum flip flopped and started liking them too
I don't want to generalize but I think it's clear many Western kpop fans are bandwagon and will especially change their opinions to agree with k-fans

this song is so beautiful, underrated FR... EXID deserved attention for their songs long before Up and Down

I don't understand why this question is specifically applied to Aespa vs BP it just seems like fanwar fodder... you could say this about any more popular group releasing at the same time as a less popular group, obviously less competition means better chart results unless the smaller group has a real breakout hit and the more popular group has a fluke dud at the same time

I know this is an old topic but I'm talking about it anyways because I have freedom of speech
Netizens universally panned these hairstyles and say that HighUP Ent is trying to do noise marketing by giving the girls ugly styling and it is sabotaging their careers and that HighUp should just focus on making them pretty so they gain attention for their visuals
while I agree I prefer to see STAYC with pretty hairstyles, I also don't hate the "ugly" hair because it has that tacky 2nd gen kpop feel that I find a bit charming. Like yes it's ugly but that was the spirit of the 2nd gen, not to be ugly, but to be experimental and pushing the boundaries of style, especially in a conformist culture like SK where the majority of people have the same hairstyles and dyed hair was shunned/banned in schools, and 2nd gen was not so focused on AI-like perfection at all times like 3rd and 4th gen kpop is obsessed with.

i think it's similar to LSG in that it is like an anthem, i think singing along will be fun and release a lot of your emotions
although I wish the captions explaining the MV story weren't there. I don't think they were necessary, show us don't tell us

excited to finally hear watermelon teased on "I am somi"

the song is terrible and the mv is random visuals that don't go together unlike next level which had a defined concept... is sm insane? hopefully it's just me who feels this way and sm doesn't totally kill aespa's momentum.

i don't know about the other two, but i know that kiel is really not good... his creativity has depleted

celebrities already get preferential treatment in the korean military and people get red in the face over it (ex. idols who do public service, G.D., etc.) and yet when it comes to bts possibly SKIPPING the military ENTIRELY people's attitudes suddenly relax? it's a double standard. people support bts being exempt not because it's their philosophy, but because it's bts, which is fine, but at least be honest about your bias.
personally I'm not upset as I'm not Korean so it doesn't affect me, but I don't think it's right for celebrities to be exempt just because they are famous and make a lot of money, that basically says being rich and popular makes you above regular citizens

ah yes this makes sense!

apparently some users are annoyed that blackpink threads are taking up the front page
