No, you don’t have to combine Hanteo and Gaon sales as Hanteo sales are included in the sales Gaon reports.
Hanteo: reports shipments from retailers to end customers (example: shipments from Ktown4u to its customers).
Gaon: reports shipments from distributors to retailers (example: shipments from YG Plus to Ktown4u). Retailers include both Hanteo-certified stores and non-certified stores.
This is why it doesn’t make sense that an album could have higher sales on Hanteo than Gaon

Yes, they are independent from each other.
In a nutshell, from what I know, Hanteo supposedly counts real-time and retail album sales from all of Hanteo-certified/accredited stores. (C2C)
Gaon counts all album shipments from distributors. (I'm not sure if I used the correct term.)
I think I've also read here in the forum before that there are distributors who don't report shipments to Gaon? (I'm also not sure though if I remember that correctly.)
But these two always have differing numbers, with lower sales numbers on Hanteo most (if not always) of the time.
If they are using the same distributors in general to report these numbers, what is the point of having gaon AND hanteo? What end purpose are they aiming for in reporting album sales that one may accuse the other of falsifying. Are they gaining some kind of profit from reporting true or false information? I’m just confuzzled on the fact that they get their numbers probably from the same distributor, which I thought was not the case, hence why there is BOTH and not just one entity reporting these numbers. I don't follow numbers of sales like other people do but I thought when others post stuff like this on here, what hanteo reports is separate from what gaon or whoever else reports, thereby you combine each of those to get a total. Maybe I was misunderstanding the concept this whole time…?

From what I've seen, the international response to Aespa's performance has been very positive. I've had a few clips with thousands of likes and comments praising them pop up on my FYP. All the comments on their latest Instagram and Twitter posts are good. If blinks were really as upset as you think we are, they would be terrorizing those posts like they did to Tablo, which was obviously super embarrassing and immature.
There were a lot of tweets mad at SM, Tablo, 88rising, etc. before the actual performance, but blinks hating on the actual performance or the girls? Come on, there are few and far between, especially on Allkpop where blinks are a dying breed in the first place. The most hate regarding the actual performance has been from knetz, who are every i-fans common enemy. Are we really saying Pann girls = blinks after the Snowdrop controversy? Perhaps the real reason Ningning was down was because knetz being racist assholes and praising every other member while cutting her down, not because of blinks
Blinks can be incredibly embarrassing and desperately need to touch some grass, as evidenced by what happened to Tablo this week. But if there are actually blinks hating on Aespa (and I mean the girls PERSONALLY not SM's stupid ass), it is a small minority and pointing fingers at the whole fandom is dumb. That being said, it's sad that they are being hated on and I hope they know they did great.
This is exactly what I thought her tweet was about. I mean does she even read English comments? I thought when she mentioned the word “prejudice” she was referring to the knetz who were glad to praise the Koreans in the group and blatantly say she wasn’t up to par at all.

Oh please some people look for the so called akgaes just for the sake of arguing. There are users here who are notorious for mostly quoting people they have a problem with just to start an argument. There’s an effing ignore feature and ppl don’t like to utilize it. They’d rather give these “akgaes” the engagement and attention that they are obviously seeking, then when people make appreciation threads, those get buried faster than anything else. As far as I am concerned they are apart pf the problem.

I am just sitting here in the background and watching this whole thing unfold, showing the true intentions of some of the “blinks” on here. I feel bad for Lisa and I am sure she is less than happy with what has happened since her solo but it sure has revealed a lot of hypocrites in AND outside of the fandom that are regulars on this site.
