it's not an actual dating show...fucking morons.
It's being broadcasted on SBS in Korea as well as nationally in Japan and Thailand.
Other boy groups could only HOPE for such exposure.

Melon has shrunk so much in the last 5 years it's not the achievement it was in 2018.
It's a dinosaur at this point.

In general Kpop has plateaued. It's not gonna grow anymore. Once growth is no longer being achieved you can only decline.
There are no more fans to be gained. This is it.
It's now up to the Kpop labels to be dynamic and creative. The existing fans will feel the squeeze from the Kpop industry to drain every cent from the fans. The existing fans are gonna have to decide if they're okay with that.
The final form of Kpop, at least in the West, was that it was a niche genre but never looked at as mainstream like hip-hop, pop, rock.
I'm not writing the obituary of Kpop, those of us that were here before Kpop became a thing in the West and was strictly a phenomenon in Asia knew how exciting the possibilities were.
But we're at the end of its growth and it is what it is at this point. I envisioned it truly taking over and being something entirely bigger, but...it didn't become that.
It's like the saying, squeezing blood out of a turnip. Well this Kpop turnip has been squeezed dry.
Anyway, to answer your question, yeah AKP will probably slowly lose its popularity. It won't die like OH, because they had server issues, but it's gonna slowly lose the interest of its users when there's no diversity. You already see only one fandom really comes here anymore because they're the ones that keep their faves' threads alive.

Good on YG for putting the health of their artists first.
Fuck everyone in this thread that said it was a marketing tactic.

Quality > Quantity

I don't think there's been a more stark difference in the divide between Twitter/IG Kpop fans and regular Kpop fans (ones that actually spend money on it) than this whole Starbucks/McDonalds/Marvel whatever else. There's literally a list of demands of these places.
No one outside of that specific group (that's exclusively online and exclusively kpop) cares about that particular issue (boycotting). But the way they're talking is extreme and as if Kpop idols are committing murder and rape.
It's always been odd, but the vitriol for this particular thing has been exponentially worse.
This is why you separate idols/celebrities from world issues. These aren't geopolitical experts or foreign ambassadors. They're famous for singing and dancing. Keep them separate.
Sometimes a coffee is just a coffee. Sometimes a hamburger is just a hamburger. Sometimes a movie is just a movie. It isn't showing political support one way or the other.
You can't tell celebrities what to eat, drink and watch.

As Kpop has begun to die, so has this board so the impact of users here are irrelevant.
It'll be OneH@llyu soon enough.

This thread is reason 56869926351 that Kpop fans are fucking morons when it comes to business.
What part of "they renewed" are you not getting?
Is it the "they" or the "renewed" part?
I know English is not a lot of people's 1st language here.

Treating addiction like these are hardened murders and rapists is so Korea.
They are in the stone-ages when it comes to addiction, mental health. They are DEEPLY behind the entire modern world.
People look at SK's entertainment industry and think it's modern. It's not.
It's still a pretty terrible place if you're a woman, gay or have mental health issues.

I wish her luck on her journey as a CEO I hope she forms a girl group one day
I also look forward to her solo comeback
It's a one-person label. IE she's the label's only artist. Lol, she's not recruiting artists 🤣
You guys really don't understand the purpose of them doing this?
She's basically becoming her own management company for her solo activities. She can earn more by doing it by herself and not cutting in someone else on the earnings ie YG, but also by forming it as a business helps her operate and pay employees and even protects her from legal liabilities by sheltering it under a company ie, an employee slips and falls on the job helping her, they can sue the company, not her directly.
She will be the company's only artist.

THE LIE
YG wanted all the members of 2NE1 to renew their contracts, they had individual face-to-face conversation about renewing but only Minzy share her desire to not renew and leave YG
this is literally YG statement about minzy leaving the group
"
YG’s contract with 2NE1 expires on May 5, 2016. Last January, we had individual face-to-face talks with each member regarding renewing their contracts and showed our desire for the group to reform. Unfortunately, Gong Minzy did not feel the same.
“Having to say goodbye to a colleague who has been with us since she was a trainee for 11 years is really difficult. However, we fully understand and respect Gong Minzy’s position as the group had to suddenly halt promotions two years ago. Thus, it is true that we feel more sorry rather than feeling unsatisfied."
Public statements should always be looked at with a grain of salt. The Korean public destroyed Bom. YG publicly defended her to the media, but the morons in that country wanted to see her absolutely destroyed as a "drug addict" even though YG tried to tell them it was prescription medicine from America to help deal with the childhood trauma of watching her friend die. Korea was so terrible and it was so toxic 2NE1 was irreparable.
YG tried but Korea is to blame for destroying 2NE1 and their absolute caveman-like views to mental health and psychiatric medicine.

No he didnt.

Not sure about some of the others, but Minzy left by herself as her own choice, and YG was pretty vindictive and petty about it: right after she left he announced 2NE1 would come back soon and have their new album that Summer, after years of hiatus.
From what I saw, they or YG did want her to renew even if only to have this '2NE1 stays as one and will ever be one' image - but they didn't want to make any effort for her to have her own solo debut like CL and BOM, even more, they put her in the dungeon for years.
There were many telltale signs that showed she was unhappy for years before she left (even if some other-member stans did their utmost to gaslight and pretend nothing was wrong ) because of how she was treated by YG so it's not strange she was ready to leave as soon as her contract ended.
Nah. YG only renewed CL and Dara. Minzy's contract was allowed to expire.

WINNER renewed 1 time ---still with YG
AKMU renewed 1 time---still with YG
BLACKPINK renewed 1 time---still with YG
But also consider who YG didn't want to renew:
iKON, Minzy, Dara, Bom, Daesung
Let out of their contract early:
Or fired for breaking the terms of the contract:
B.I, Seungri
Typically, if YG wants to keep you, they will. BLACKPINK being the latest example.
GD is probably the only artist that didn't renew that YG probably wanted to. Everyone else worked out the way YG wanted.
YG's renewal rate is excellent based on their reputation that the contracts are lucrative and extremely artist friendly.
