Do you think gross Kpop fanfics/imagines should be allowed? (Poll)

  • I disagree.

I don't think proximity to the real person or popularity of the real person matters. Your neighbor, your mother, your bias in a Kpop group are all real people. Celebrities are not fictional. They are real people with emotions and hopes and dreams.

Writing filth that puts them in degrading, sexualized, or compromised positions that they never agree upon is invasive and disgusting.

    Let’s agree to disagree.

If a celebrity goes looking for fanfiction or fan content and then talks about how it made them uncomfortable I will unstan that celebrity that’s how strongly I feel about this.

Fan spaces are for fans only. They are not meant to make anyone not looking for it uncomfortable.

This doesn’t cover ppl commenting on celebs social media etc etc. Only refers to fan content in fan spaces.

One of the MAIN reasons why kpop is popular is the fan fics people write(go look at some AO3 stats it’s staggering) It’s a large and engaging community of very talented people. Yes there is rated content. Yes there is stuff that everyone won’t agree with. But I believe fully and completely in it’s right to exist.

  • as someone who occasionally writes ff's in my spare time (non-kpop though), i agree with this.

i do draw the line at writing about minors though, that's disgusting, even if they recently became an adult (as mentioned above), it's still disgusting.

  • I don't think anything I can say will change your mind, but one follow up question:

Where do you draw the line? Is deepfake porn created with idol's faces okay? If not, how is it different from written sexual fanfiction (smut)?

I left my heart in LA again. Please continue taking good care of it.

deepfake porn with any celebrity's face is absolutely not okay. that is visual content produced for a larger viewing audience and may confuse people into believing it's real (people are pretty dumb sometimes). it is completely different.

Okay, I can see that distinction.

So the difference is that the written story is presented up front as fiction, and doesn't contain a visual element?

People who complain about fanfics have no idea about it’s reach nor it’s impact.

As for writing about minors. There are a lot of minors writing fanfics about other minors. All I do is stay tf away from such stories.

What I believe is no one gets to complain about fanfics no matter how deranged it is because of how easy it is to filter and block content you don’t want to see and we don’t really know or understand why people write the stuff people write.

I view fanfics as a safe space.

    it's more than that.

deepfake sites (if they are like porn sites, which i am betting they are) probably have recommended videos and short clips on the side of probably the most disgusting things happening to or given from a celebrity. people who didn't search for it are still going to see it some way or another. fanfiction is different in a sense where you have to actively search for smut if you want to find it. now, i can't speak to the morality and quality of all of those fics- but i can say that everyone has a right to free speech. what everyone should NOT have right to: deepfake someone's face on another person and cause confusion and issues.

some fanfictions i've read have been so impactful on me. they were amazing though some included a bit of smut. still, it's hard to discount the talent and good writing there.

  • If people want to discuss whether such content should exist in public spaces for example writing them under celebs private social media or posting them here on AKP etc etc it’s completely valid. I dislike people who write tweets fics when their accounts are not private for example

But content on sites like AO3 or AFF which is a specific fan space meant only for fans : it’s no one’s business.

  • exactly. AO3 makes it so easy to avoid so many subject matters and makes all of the tags available. (they're not the only site of course but i'm using that as an example).

and yeah i will admit i have read some fucking amazingly written fics. some people are just really really talented too.

and i'm glad you're able to find comfort in fanfics and have a safe space <3

I don’t really read real person fiction much(2D Men >> :’D) but I have such talented friends who do so. The stuff they write >>>>> published books.

I get personally offended on their behalf when people make generalized statements about fan content :’)

  • BTW going to copy-paste something (but change some stuff), I said a year ago on a different place.

    Well... I write fanfic sometimes.
Mostly fluff. Even though some of them involve shipping. (but I guess those are harmless in comparison to the gross ones.)
I most of the times assume that the readers don't actually take my fanfics seriously, like no, Wooyoung and San didn't actually go on a romantic ice cream date together.

I have once been asked by a user on the AKP forum to write a "gross fanfic" featuring two members of a boygroup, but I have never actually written it.

I also seldom read "gross fanfics" and most of the times end up feeling traumatized afterwards.

I saw a video about someone talking about kpop fanfics, and said that it is better to use fictional characters and OCs instead if you want to write about the disturbing stuff.

Oh, and about that thing about the fanfic readers not differentiating between reality and fanfic.

I know that there is this Youtuber, who makes text message videos featuring ATEEZ members as characters and other ATEEZ stuff, and she always begins those videos with a disclaimer saying "This video is for entertainment purposes only and is not a representation of ATEEZ as individual. It's not meant to be taken seriously."
