Are you a fan of this recent trend of debuting groups with no positions?

  • I think it gives the members more versatility to show what they can do. Idols are good at different things and I feel like with positions, it causes fans to fight over who should have more screentime, more lines, etc. based on their positions. Without them, it gives them sort of free rein.

And positions were mostly based on what the member excelled at and it was kind of flawed in a way because those are the positions you debut with and everyone can improve in what they do.

  • I like positions since they make the members easier to remember and also help bring attention to members specialties. But honestly it doesn’t matter much since groups without positions still promote the same. They almost have unofficial positions that everyone is aware of. For example TXT doesn’t have positions but everyone knows that Taehyun would be the main vocal and Yeonjun main dancer and main rapper

  • I never found it to be a problem with the older groups, but with the new line distribution videos and solo stan issues, we have reached a point of no return. I'd rather there be no specified positions, if it means less hate thrown at the more talented (but less popular) idols like Soyeon. Fixed positions also disregard the ability to improve, and although there is seldom any significant improvement after debut, there are some exceptions. For example both Soyeon and Yuqi have improved beyond the two main vocalists; Min from Miss A took lessons and improved her singing, easily surpassing Suzy etc.

Considering that many idols receive large solo parts only due to them being visuals and center, then awarding hardwork and talent with more exposure should not be so controversial regardless of their original "position"
