It was not even that long ago that K-pop groups and artists hardly seemed to make a dent in Korean charts, and K-pop fans complained how the Korean public's taste had move away from their own K-pop groups. Well, not anymore!!
Checking Instiz iChart Top 10 these days show a Big Bang, (G)I-dle, Red Velvet, Taeyeon, STAYC and IVE all comfily playing around in the Top 10 ranks.
And it's not just some random or singular-genre set of songs that occupy the top ranks: instead the K-pop songs that reside in the top 10 are a mix of high quality and variety, for a wide array of tastes.
Even in the weekly Top 11-30 of Korean charts we find a lot of other K-pop artists like Yena, Oh My Girl, NCT Dream, Girls On Top, Aespa, Stray Kids and so on.
And I love it!!
It feels like the tides have changed, and 2022 will show a wide range of all kinds of K-pop groups, artists and songs finding their way to the top ranks of the Korean charts again, where it felt they were practically banished for a long time before.
But what do you think, has something changed in regards to K-pop charting on Korean charts?
