Why is only Blackpink successful as YG group and not the other YG groups?

    It used to be that YG boy groups did better than YG girl group especially Big Bang.

    But now it's the other way around. Even with Blackpink long hiatuses, YG boy groups are a shadow compared with Blackpink's success.


    How come? What did they do wrong, or what did YG do wrong?

    Bp is just that much better, those bgs have no it factor

    Bigbang didn't do better because of YG. Their talent came from them (and sometimes Teddy as a third writer).


    Ikon failed (I think) because BI did something silly so his group got sent off to Japan for two years instead of building a career in Korea properly. And knetz didn't like their arrogance from debut when they hadn't earned it yet.


    Winner have a solid fanbase in Korea, they're popular especially Mino, but they don't make the kind of music that gets big internationally.


    And Treasure also have their own fanbase but they're not very YG in tone so a lot of the casual fans who would have checked for them because they like the YG/Bigbang sound just aren't.

    Because YG/Teddy didn't get as involved with other groups as they did with BP.


    Or maybe it is just a coincidence that both groups that were the most carefully managed by YG/Teddy became the most successful groups in the company.

    YG didn't care about BP. They didn't got their YG SNSD they wanted since a long time and Teddy wanted to leave. YG gave Teddy Black Label and Blackpink as a gift to convince him to stay. Ikon/Winner were YG projects, he believed in them but BP was just his failed SNSD project.


    All YG do is not letting BP reaching their full potential.

    Yg was much more into the formation of winner ikon and treasure than bp. But teddy is only involved with bp. Bp said he is like the actual boss for them

    yg gives boygoups more artistic freedom, and we all think that is great


    in fact some fans from other groups from other companies likes to brag about how thier groups write their own stuff...pardom me, but it doesn´t matter that the stuff is done or not but thier idols, it matters that the stuff is GOOOOODDDD.


    and many people say they are done with TEDDYS songs...but he keeps on giving hits after hits. On the Album every song was hit material. We could literally made an MV with each song, cos they were ALL GOOD.


    and the bp solos also where above the average quality of yg boygroups solo material


    and i know everyone has their opinion about BP girls, how they say that they are not that good on this, or not that good at that....Well, just the IT FACTOR, put you over any other artist. Just the sum of a huge deal of little things.

    if teddy could give you hits, what about somi, admit those bgs are nothing special and even teddy can't save the sausage fests from all that floppage. Also teddy needs bp more now than the other way round.

    Didn't Somi do great with her last comeback?


    A lot of people were calling her a flop for a long time and saying that she should've never left JYP, but they stopped with that with her last comeback.

    Nah I wouldn't say yg believed in Winner, he didn't even expect them to win the survival show and was disappointed when they did. He then left them rot in prison after they debuted for nearly 2 years before making them comeback.









    The thing in common with the successful yg groups (Bigbang, 2ne1 and Blackpink) is Teddy but maybe it's a coincidence or just an element but not the main reason.

    Expecting that solo artists will have the same results as full groups is madness, you cannot compare solo artists and groups with the same standards.

    Somi's doing alright, especially considering she doesn't have the full YG promotion machine behind her, nor the assist of a full group.

    YG has many sub businesses. It's a conglomerate fgs
