JYP creative way of boosting and inflating physical sale

  • So I just noticed how creative JYP is regarding to this. For StrayKids, Twice and Itzy, they all have a SE album a months or a few weeks after the initial comeback. I mean this is work like a half repackage comeback but with no actual comeback where each group can net at least 150k albums, and Straykids should net even more. This then will not count separately like repackage comeback hence it will inflate the sale.

For Nmixx, JYP created a blinded package and still doing fanmeets to boost Nmixx sale after more than a month of debut. They sold atleast 25k today for fanmeet. I mean they actually outsold Itzy this way by milking the same fans with the same cheap albums.

What do you guys think? Do you think it's a genius idea? Or a creative idea to inflate sales for their groups? Is JYP creating an illusion that their group fan base are actually bigger than they actually are? Do you think kpop companies should copy JYP?

    Approved the thread.
  • everyone inflating ( and probably outright lying ) about sales these days

  • Sm should release 1 version for nct album a month later and another one a few months later and mediaplay 4 mil sales

What is a SE album? Does it count like another version?

Special Edition or whatever name they like to call it. It is an addition album version, and it will count like any version released earlier.

  • YG has been doing this. What's the difference in giving Stray Kids a jewel case 3 weeks later over giving Lisa a LP minths later, same for The Album.

SM did it too. SNSD's biggest selling album has a repacked version too.

Red Velvet launched with 2 standard versions and 1 special version. How is this different?

which is totally normal , every group are releasing some standard version and a special version when their group are coming back so their fans buy the version they prefer

the things who's less usual is releasing a special version 1 month after the release of the initial album launch to boost again the album sales, it's what JYP is doing now

  • Stray Kids' special jewel case came out 1 week after the comeback. It's not "months" or "weeks". Actually HYBE, with Enhypen, and SM has been being doing it.

Yeah so explain, and do take your time, if this is JYPs genius plan how come Formula or Love has seperate Gaon indedxes? The sale literally dont even stack you tool.

And no it isnt standard. Most companies like Jyp drop multiple alternate versions of the same album, SM also do this but simultaneously drop a bonuse special edition.

Its not the same as alt covers and photobooks lol, its a whole seperate version. Completely different thing.

  • It sounds kinda desperate and possible backfire. It could work for groups that chart well ( at least girl groups) cause it shows the support In both merits, but for nmixx case…. It’s only getting them side glances and judged. Itzy is different as they have shown to have such a big fandom so we can put it down to that. It’s weird jyp would want his new girl group to pass itzy with their debut sales. Why don’t they do the same thing for itzy considering they’re way more popular, it’s odd.

  • They are inflating nmixx sales by doing continous fan meets. I do want to know how much itzy's special edition sold? Their hanteo is way lesser than savage's but sold around the same on gaon.

  • I don't know about TWICE and ITZY, but Stray Kids' special version for NOEASY was announced one day after the comeback and ODDINARY was announced 1 week after the comeback and both to be released in few days after the standard versions. I don't think It makes a lot of difference. If anything, only makes their fans ship twice.

I would like to apologize about Enhypen's mention. I forgot It was similar to TXT's jewel case. They were announced a few days before the comeback and boosted in the last minute. Still don't think It's very different from Stray Kids' case, but I like to be fair.

  • I’m not SKZ fan but honestly what’s wrong w/ it? As long as it’s actual sales and not just trying to increase stock in resellers store to make their gaon sales bigger, it’s still sales. Whether 1 fan bought 10 , or 100 versions, so what? For every 1 fan that can buy 10 versions of album, there are also more than 10 who cant afford to buy 1 and just contribute in streaming esp w/ that high sf. So having a lot of physical sales are still a good indication of ur fandom size.

  • I dont know why JYP stans keep claiming JYP isnt looking for ways to boost sales as if it's some evil, dirty thing to do, while it's something every sound company should do, and fans of groups of other companies would have wished their bias' company would give their group the same effort, push, promotion and attention?

Is it suddenly a dirty thing if a company gives their own groups a boost?

    Kpoppies are so weird sometimes.

    Yep.

  • Every company does this.

Blackpink released a Japanese version of The Album after one year with like 10 versions to boost their sales, and they released a LP.

Lisa got a LP months later, which is a fancy word for a special version lol
