  • They are 4th gen

Idk why ppl are so adamant on calling them 3rd gen and what not… I don’t see bgs like skz get this treatment even though the debut BEFORE gidle

  • concept of 0.5 is unnecessary are doesn't makes practical sense

    they are 4th gen

  • of course they are. every 2018 debut is 4th gen

  • Gidle, Itzy, SKZ are all 3.5 gen.

Their fans call them 4th gen just so they can boast about being the "tOp 4tH gEn gROupS!!!!"

They'd have nothing to brag about otherwise.

  • The way generations are divided will always be a bit arbitrary, so there will always be people who are unhappy and disagree. But as far as I'm concerned, I go with the definitions made by kpop website Idology.

  • I will say 3.5 gen. 4th gen starts in 2019 and 2020 at the latest.

Does nobody think it's weird to be comparing G-idle, a 4-year-old group with groups like Aespa who are barely over 1 year old? And no, not an Aespa stan, just using them as an example. It's the same for IVE, nmixx, Kep1er, StayC etc. You look at them and they are all within the close age range and debuting year, and most of them are from the pandemic era.

  • 3.5 gen is so stupid like how far you gonna split are we gonna get 3.75 next. Ateez is widely accept as 4th gen and debuted in the same year as (G)idle and even many are accepting of NCT dream being 4th despite their debut in 2016. Gaps happen in generations all the time Exo is 10 years old meanwhile Blackpink debuted later and is 6 years old.

  • Depends on how you look at things. 2018 just feels way too early for 4th gen to start when for girl groups 3rd gen only started in 2014.

That would mean that 3rd gen only lasted 4 years. Right.

  • 4th gen for sure

it’s funny how aespa fans want to push this narrative because of insecurity

  • 4th gen stans getting insecure seeing their favs getting destroyed by idle lol

  • Time will say but 2018-2019 are 3.5 gen, it just feels too soon to debut for the 4th gen. Personal op: aespa opened the 4th gen like exo did with 3rd gen but those 3.5 gen group are gonna be grouped with 4th gen groups because what are you gonna say?? top best selling of 3.5 gen? lol

  • I don't see them as 4th gen. They're too similar to 3rd generation idols in their songs, performances and concept too

  • Can we forget these stupid generations and enjoy groups that are currently active? Does it matter where do you draw the line?

  • Why do people argue about this after Mnet, a Korean authority on K-Pop, has listed them as 4th gen along with SKZ?

  • not in my opinion but at the same time who knows they might be like apink
