Is aespa too far gone for 4th gen groups to catch up?

  • Inspired by a post on the main page, but next level and savage are huge I don’t think people fully understand how big and how much of an impact they are. We’ve seen the elderly, weddings, graduations, parties and even space and presidential related celebrations with their songs. I haven’t seen impact this massive since Gee and Cheer up. Then their albums, aespa debut album is half a million, people are already predicting more than 1 million for their next album. Compare them to red velvet who’s growing so much, now imagine arepas growth from savage (and got also dct) I wonder if aespa are to far ahead for a group to overtake them anytime soon.

  • No reason to brag, Dwayne Johnson did all the heavy lifting.

  • Some claim that aespa are too ahead of the rest of 4th gen

Others claim that they're not even famous outside of Korea

I'm interested to see how these beliefs will fluctuate after their next comeback.

  • savage isn't all that huge, hit but not huge however NL is sort of a national hit of 2021 in sk but you never know any other 4th gen gg might secure one as well in the future.

  • If groups like kepler who just debuted gained more sales than them, if groups like ive who just debuted had a song beating most of aespa's releases then you answer, are aespa really ahead of the 4th gen?

  • Aespa are far ahead though lol no one is arguing that? Even mys are chill now they have no one to challenge them lol

  • No other girlgroups can still catch up obviously

  • they don't dominate any metric besides korean digitals, some are acting like they are bp level or something :cryc:

  • Aespa really isn’t that far ahead of 4th gen group let’s be honest

They’ve got Korea but int are behind other 4th gens so it balances out

  • They seems to be on same path as red velvet, they are huge but there will be a real bigger group than them.

  • No. We can see that those that debut later generally have the upper hand. Example is Red Velvet debuting first, then Twice and then Blackpink the current biggest gg. Out of the big3 ggs BP was the las deIve might catch up and Lesserafim maybe. There's still YGNGG and Ador.

Sales? Savage is still sitting with above 570k copies sold in gaon and above 410k in hanteo. How much did Kepler sell?

  • No. We can see that those that debut later tend to have the upper hand. Example is Red Velvet debuting first, then Twice and then Blackpink the current biggest gg. Out of the big3 ggs BP debuted last so it seems like an advantage. Ive might catch up as they dont have fillers, the members are popular, their sales are great and they chart well national and internationally. Lesserafim maybe. There's still YGNGG and Ador, but I think YGNGG won't be as strong exactly because BP still is at the top of their game. Once Ador debut and every other gg get a comeback then we will see if aespa still is number 1.

We have to remember that the spots can change, for example 3rd gen Twice used to be number 1 until Blackpink arrived with The Album.

  • The delusion is strong aespa are behind itzy in international charts and already out sell them

Itzy are ahead on spotify and own the biggest 4th gen song on youtube.

Album sales: Crazy in love 569k vs Savage 574k. Stop acting like Aespa outsold by a mile and even if they did it doesn't make them globally relevant when most sales come from china, see Nct. Only allkpop folks think aespa massively lead 4th gen

    Debut mini vs first album

Rookie vs group in 3rd year

You look goofy af trying to downplay aespa, girls getting 800k next comeback while itzy still stuck a 400k also sis itzy dropped a repackage and still got outsold. Don't be embarrassing.

And globally relevant please do tell what country outside of Asia is itzy famous in? The girls only do good on Spotify and YouTube sit tf down.

All itzy streams from SEA but you don't see me downplaying them yall jyp stans bitter because China does not fuck wirh them washed groups.

At the end of the day one group got washed by 2 rookies and it's not aespa. Ive snatched yall "international" achievements away and aespa and G idle killing Korea midzy look delusional trying to claim them girls leaders anywhere.

  • The real tea is that they're only considered far ahead because of BIG 3 privilege.

  • What is this delusion? Also u obv aren't a MY

  • Knock knock mys? When you try to claim aespa is by far biggest 4th gen gg them being rookies doesn’t matter

Whoever is bigger will just be bigger, you can’t use rookie as an excuse.

The stats show Itzy and aespa are pretty close tbh

  • what? "tomboy" is shaping up to be a bigger hit than "Savage" and may be on track to challenge "Next Level"

  • Ctfu the charts are dead??? Aespa competed vs Digimons and got hits trust their next comeback will break records.

Lol tomboy got over 450k+ ul and going to be 1st song from 4th generation to chart no 1 on gaon weekly chart and it had direct competition from RV and jaypark ft iu and savage highest ul was 396k and competition may affect its chart position but interms of Ul and peak tomboy is by far bigger hit and about longevity we have to wait for that.

    Red Velvet is irrelevant!

  • Yeah, ygngg, ador and lesserafim are about to humble y'all mys and I'll be here to witness that

  • The only thing they have is Next Level being a smash

Savage isn't as big as you like it to be, it showed aespa reach because it did well in the beginning but failed to continue in order to become a big hit. I would call it a simi hit. Not even at the level of Gee + Genie don't set them up.

Their album sales are huge but not by a huge margin. Next comeback groups like Kepler, Ive, Nmixx will reach the 400k+ on hanteo.

They are no1, but they are not a big step ahead. Gidle is shaping to have a huge hit like NL already, so that shows that it isn't impossible, but not super easy either

Although, the real competition should come from these newly debuted groups, like IVE, Kepler, Lesserafim, etc because ITZY seems to have passed and STAYC is not a threat.

  • And when aespa cb embarass yall yet again it will be crickets! Ctfu!

  • And when aespa cb embarass yall yet again it will be crickets! Ctfu!

Then there will simply be a new group to bash, shade and hate other groups with and to use to bait other people to bash the new group.

Which is the kpop circle of life, kpop fans need groups they can boast with and groups that aren't their bias that they can bash and shade. Else kpop gets boring for them, apparently.

  • what? "tomboy" is shaping up to be a bigger hit than "Savage" and may be on track to challenge "Next Level"

So you throw mud of any of these girl groups that do well and see If it stick. Since you got Gidle which have a hit song doing well, what about their other metrics compare to aespa. Youtube, spotify and physical, how is it overall when compare to aespa?

Lol, it's funny seeing u guys going from IVE to Gidle which a 4 years old group. I am not sure if they are 4th gent by the way. It doesn't matter. Most GG bound to get a hit song. The consistency charting any song on the charts is the important. Look at Brave Girls and see how they doing now and humble yourself. This is apply to any GG.

Sure, no body deny Tomboy is doing great. Now don't get ahead of your self and compare to Next Level. NL is holding the record in the Top 10 of Melon and Gaon for 27 weeks. The next GG song that come close is Lovesick Girls at 22 weeks. Most GG song stay way below this. Aespa also won multiple daesang because of NL. Wait a few months than compare.

Now, let's move on to aespa comeback. Korean charting wise, I can't predict but I can guarantee they will do decent. For international charting, they will do better than savage. For physical, aespa will decimate any 4th Gent GG and they might become the second GG to Cross 1 mil sale.

  • nope. idle was obviously able to catch up right in just a matter of 6 months. lol
