Had two teachers like this at school too and currently at my university many professors or instructors do the same. Rumors alone can cause your job. Also like you said some try to get better grades through immoral ways and it’s better to not allow situations where a fatal mistake could happen.

As a young teacher myself, you should NEVER trust a teacher who messages you on social media AT ALL.

Young teachers need to realize we are not their friend, we are their instructor and there need to be those boundries.

I knew about a case like this too… I think in this case the student was in elementary, the teacher, if I remember correctly went to jail, but when she got out they dated again but now he reached his age of consent and they couldn’t do anything and later they got married…. I think this is a textbook example of grooming.

In your case

She was an authority figure and therefore she clearly crossed the line . But I guess since the boy reached his age of consent they couldn’t do much apart from taking away her license.

It's sad it happens a lot and its always P.E teachers I remember when I was back in 7th grade the guy P.E coach stared at girl's butts when they were bending over while doing exercises, he just to always be nice to girls as well while being rude to the guys. He was a total creep I wonder what happened to him though I only stayed at that school for half a year and i'm thankful for that.

Our principal was complicit in letting teachers get away with their sexual harassment BS so there was a lawsuit and both he and a teacher got fired. I hope it's genuinely a better place for kids now

It was more about the age of the high schooler and the age gap why many saw it less problematic. The high schooler in question was 19 and the guy 23 (18-22 international age) so just a 4 years age gap. With 18 you’re an adult in majority of the countries that’s why many people saw it as normal or ok.

Also different then here he was not an authority figure so there is no power imbalance.

It all comes down to how people judge such situations, some make a clear cut by Highschooler no matter the age and others judge considering the age and the age gap. It’s a moral issue.

But what everyone in that Thread on the other hand agreed on was that if she was younger than that or he older, it would have clearly been a problem.
