* Used as a Protest song against former South Korean President

* Used as a Melody for 2 Politcal Parties Elections, including the eventual winner.

* Used in Korean School Text Books for Music with H.O.T's Candy (released in 1999), the first KPop Songs to ever do that

Twice 2015-2016

BP 2016-2017

Aespa 2020-2021

2015 - Twice debut was good, but weaker than BP. Sales were still big then, they sold over 2.5 million downloads, BP whistle did the same. So if you compare LOA vs whistle, you can give the edge to BP, Black mamba didn't do so well relative to the other 2.

2016- Cheer up and TT were massive, twice ruled kpop girl groups their rookie year, both songs were #1 on the gaon chart. This was bigger than BP second year, and slightly bigger than Aespa. Aespa was unlucky because they were blocked by butter in one comeback and a popular OTS in the other, so they did not get #1 on gaon.

Black Pink

2016- BP had a huge debut, but Twice were still queens of kpop, of the 4 singles they released in 2016, only whistle went to #1 on gaon, since they released them in pairs, they could only really get 2 #1 at most and they had to compete against TT in their second comeback. BP had 2 comebacks in 2016, so maybe you can say they get the edge over Twice for the first calendar year.

2017 - Well the YG strategy of limiting BP music starts, they only had one comeback in 2017 AIIYL did very well peaking at #3 on Gaon, but compared to Twice second calendar year, this is not good enough.

Aespa.

2020 - A forgettable debut for a big 3 group, not as bad as NMixx, but very poor compared to LOA and Whistle/Boombayah.

2021 - We will ignore "forever" just like the Korean public did, then NL and Salvage hit the markets and they did excellent, almost as good as Twice. They were unlucky with some competition, but also they had a free year with no Black Pink comeback (a few solos) and Twice, well Twice is no longer the monster that they used to be.

So if you want to say, pure debut, the Black Pink with whistle/square one did the best.

If you want Rookie "year" then Twice had a better combination of very good debut with excellent first full year.

Blackpink had both domestic success and unparalleled international success for a GG. This isn’t even worth a comparison. There is just no one close. No one can have best of both worlds like BP.

Black pink international success did not happen until 2018-2019, that is when we start seeing the China numbers.

They were selling like 6,000 albums/downloads in the USA (only other numbers I see) that is better than other kpop acts for sure, but come on, that is not huge compared what they move in Korea, Japan and later on in China.
