people fail to understand that some popular songs have slow burnout rate hence they stay in top 10 for long time. Example, Blinding Light stayed for almost a year on top10 (of which 40 weeks on top5).
Melon old chart had its flaw too. Being real-time, u can argue that fandom could mass stream and made the song top 10 and gain exposure. But the fact is, most fandom driven songs fall off (especially after zombie hours). Hence this argument of gaining top10 exposure, while have its point, the effect is not as significant as you all try to make it.
New chart which is based on cumulative 24hrs ULs, is more reflective because it cannot be influenced by fandom mass streaming. The top10 exposure that they gain, is on the song own accord. While many of you argued that once a song hit top10, they tend to stick for long time. This might not be due to top10 effect, but simply because they are popular enough to stay there. This is a causal relationship issue.
People keep bringing out top10 exposure which is not 100% true as seen in the old chart performance, many BGs songs reached top10 due to zombie hour streaming doesnt really stick there. In fact, Korean might not even listen to the top10 as a playlist. People just choose what they want to listen to
