Next Level is bigger than any rv song and aespa are already much more loved by the gp than rv ever were. Prior to red flavor rv were being curb stomped by twice and were losing even to non big 3 groups like gfriend and mamamoo. No wonder when people mention sm ggs in korea it's ses, snsd and aespa that come to mind. Fx and rv never do cause they were never popular to the level of these 3.

Maybe an unpopular opinion but Yeri should never have been added to Red Velvet. She adds nothing to the group except lower age average. She is wooden on stage, can't really rap and isn't really a singer either. She has the least stage presence out of all the girls and it's laughable when people say she's part of the dance line since everyone else eats her up in energy. Even Wendy and Joy. Wendy feels the songs a lot even though she might not be the best dancer and Joy has a lot of charisma. Seulgi is great and Irene is pretty good too. I like Yeri and think she should've gone into acting from the start because she can act! Being in Red Velvet brought her nothing but hate.

Red Velvet are like the forgotten middle child while Aespa are SM's shiny new toy. Aespa's first comeback had more expensive and better designed teasers than Red Velvet have ever gotten in their entire career. SM booked Aespa for Macy's Day parade and late night shows when they were less than a year old while Red Velvet, SM's biggest group on Spotify, have never been promoted in the west. Red Velvet are also pretty much the last standing big third gen group without Amazon distribution while, to the surprise of no one, Aespa had Amazon distribution with their very first album. Not to mention Irene not getting solo promo until years into her career while Karina was getting special treatment before they even debuted. Even their station songs get different treatment: RV got one video of them lip-syncing when they covered that BoA song while DCT is basically being treated like a comeback for Aespa.
I agree that Aespa are doing better than Red Velvet, but let's not pretend like SM treated both groups the same. RV was basically a throwaway group whereas Aespa are SM's prized possession right now

I agree but honestly this is all SM's fault. Like how they couldn't see this? She is closer in age to aespa than Red Velvet which is pretty crazy. Seulgi waited like what... 8 years to debut? Couldnt Yeri wait a little more too just like her and Ningning? Didnt they had other trainees closer in age to Red Velvet?
What made SM debut her just like that still is one of the biggest kpop mysteries. The girl was literally just 15 and she got so much hate thanks to SM's stupid decisions.

Red Velvet's concept and early scandals held them back.
In particular, the animosity from Fx stans who felt that SM had rushed RV's debut to cover up a number of scandals.
Their concept is somewhat limiting and especially the years where Blackpink was the epitome of girl crush and Twice was the quintessential gg for men at a time when these concepts were the most popular. RV was somewhere in the middle and leaned either way depending on whether it was a red or velvet release. There are also many people who either like only their red or velvet sides.
Aespa's concept is something different but at the same time it is pure kpop. Experimental and catchy. Then throw in that there was such a big gap in time between RV and them, and they got less heat from their senior group fans.

This is completely SM's fault but the one who bore the brunt of the hate was Yeri and that's horrible. There have long been rumors that they debuted her due to her family's money or connections and I don't even want to get into that but they really should have had her as an acting trainee and not an idol trainee.
