How can it still be Twice NGG when they have been flopping on charts hard for years now? Black pink have done so much better in the last couple years both digitally and physically and every member is bigger than any Twice member. They didn’t even have a CB this year yet they’re still the most popular gg on Korean polls, online searches, news articles etc. That’s the level of domination SNSD had in 2012.
Aespa meanwhile as rookies destroyed Twice on charts 3 times this year and their debut album has already sold as well as Twice albums in their peak years. When Aespa drop a full album sales are going to be even higher, possibly match current day Twice. Aespa like Black pink also ranked higher than Twice on polls and articles etc.
Twice have done well in the past they can’t reasonably be called the NGG when in Korea they’ve been very clearly surpassed by 2 other ggs

I know some people are slow to grasp this but nation's girl group is a term given by the Korean media, not by random international stans on allkpop.com. Twice got the title in 2016 because Cheer Up was literally everywhere and Twice were propelled to an insane level of popularity. After CU, LOA entered Melon top 10 and Twice had 7 consecutive Gaon #1 hits. They won SOTY at every major awards show in 2016 and snatched the #1 group title on Gallup Korea, the most accurate measure of who actual Koreans believe is the most popular, with around 12% of the vote.
Comparatively, in 2021, NL was also huge, but Gallup still showed that Aespa was only the 3rd most popular group in SK. BTS were #1 with the insane gap of 46% of the vote. Blackpink were the #2 group and #3 overalll with 10.5% of the vote (and no new music), meanwhile Aespa were #6 overall with 6.5%. Twice were at around 5.3% at #7. 2021 Aespa are not at the level of 2016 Twice, so k-media has not given the NGG title. Besides, that title is outdated nowadays with how global kpop is..

Do Karina and Winter have enough talent and charisma to move into Twice's spot? Not yet. If they keep dropping bangers with viral dance moves they'll stay high in the ranks, but there's a lot of competition coming along now.

akpp users think NGG means more popular at the moment more of the gen etcetctc if you all goes by that irrelevant measure then idk it is still too soon but Aespa has what it takes to be the leading gg of the 4th gn and BP is more popular and have more brand value from the 3 gen ggs facts are facts even if none of them are the ngg, at least for be the number 1 of their own gen they need individual it girl and brand value this is something BP has even with one year without CB and I have no preferences, actually in my eyes and ears RV should be the most popular GG from 3 gen but I am using facts here and those are the facts, and another fact is that the NGG title was created only for SNSD and never was truly for another, x y z group fans claiming and all means nothing, and SNSD are still called NGG now why don't make another title? Because NGG is only SNSD and this is not changing specially when they showing up on a show have better rantings than other groups even after aaall this time
