I'm all caught up on GBBO, so trying to decide what to watch next. Is The Silent Sea any good? I feel like I heard a lot of buzz originally, but it got overshadowed by the Snowdrop fuss.
Is The Silent Sea worth watching?

Yes, go for it

Eh it's ok nothing great or memorable.
It's decent at being a mystery sci fi. There's a wonder of why the retrieval is cloaked in secrecy including exactly why they're there. The true reason is interesting and cool but you can guess it to an extent.
However after that there comes a pretty big plot twist and honestly it feels like it came out of nowhere and doesn't add much. If anything it raises more questions and ideally should be another main plotline but it guess discussed for maybe half an episode and it's back to the original mission.
Also it becomes a slasher but not for the reasons you expect of a sci fi show, it's feels like a whole genre shift and not in a good way.
The end is very meh. The mission is completed but we learn nothing about current earth, the ramifications of what happened on the moon base both before and after mission and we barely get any insight into what the discoveries hold for future implications. It just ends as they kinda literally fly into the sunset (being in space and all lol)
The feel and look of the drama is good though and acting is decent for the most part minus a couple annoying tropes (like the idiot who behaves like a kid when he should be serious). The characters are very 1 dimensional though, 2 have any real personality or backs story. And like I mentioned the entire story is barebones with little to no world building.

Thanks for the thorough explanation! Appreciate the help.

I enjoyed the atmosphere and cinematography.

The ending was kinda lackluster and and some logic holes… but all in all watchable.
I finished watching it finally, and I think this is where I land. The pacing's kind of all over the place and you can't think about anything too hard or else it all falls apart, but it's acted well enough and it's an interesting enough premise.
I can't see me watching it a second time, though.
