Honest thoughts on vaccines and antivaxxers?

  • Just get them. No they won't stop you from getting covid, but they will make it so you won't die from it. Please think of others. A needle is nothing when compared to life support.

  • I still haven't gotten the vaccine. It's not because I don't want to, I want to but I'm afraid. In my country many people have died after getting the vaccine, it's scary. Some doctors even gave their patients expired vaccines (confirmed, not some conspiracy theory) so yeah I'm just scared

  • To be brutally honest, anti vaxxers are selfish losers, they are willing to risk their own health and that of those around them by refusing to be vaccinated and then go out and protest and risk infecting thousands. It is their choice of course but a very irresponsible one and should not be granted the same freedom as the vaccinated.

As for vaccines, they do offer some protection and should be encouraged for all ages. I am fully vaccinated and have also booked in for my booster vaccine in March. People should also be remembering to stay COVID safe at all times with hand sanitizer, mask (in crowded areas) and social distancing. It's not hard, just common sense and courtesy. Whether we want to or not, COVID isn't going away, we have to learn to live with this new "normal"

  • Despite the fact the vaccines have turned out to be not as efficient as the companies and governments were touting them to be ( if they were, we wouldn't be talking about a 4th dose already) , they are still a good protection against covid, especially for older people and it's nice we have it.

As for antivaxxers, there are those who think covid is not even real and those who think that is all a lie.

But for some reason, even the slightest doubt about the safety of the vaccine is enough to label you as an antivaxxer and make people come at you. I hope more people will see the difference and allow free discussion.

I am also against mandates and covid passes. You can't make someone lose their job and not allow them to do basic things because they haven't got a vaccine that doesn't stop transmission, hospitalization or death anyway.

I am afraid we have opened a Pandora's box because of that that will bring back the ugliness we have tried to keep in the past.

  • I'm not against all vaccines, but tbh I'm afraid of the after effects of a vaccine made in less than a year. We still don't know the long term effects, some months are nothing. Who knows if it's gonna make you more prone to other illnesses like cancer in the future.

People should be free to make their own choices.

And if someone says that anti vaxxers are selfish, yes they are and they can be. When my life is at stake I can be as selfish as I want. I have the right to decide and do whatever I want with my body. Others shouldn't have the right to even think about telling someone what they can or cannot do with their body.

  • Where there's a risk, there's a choice.

Covid vaccines may have severe side effects like blood clots and myocarditis. Even if they do not come very often, how many thousands of people had their health deteriorated after taking the vaccine?

They're a minority but why should they be paying the price for us to go back to normal.

I'm not against vaccines but don't make it mandatory, because what are you gonna tell those who didn't wanna take it but had to and got permanent side effects ? Sorry ?

  • Anti vaxxers are selfish.

Yeah sure, it's your choice at the end of the day.

But your selfish choice causes you to take resources (hospital beds, ventilators etc) away from those who have done the right thing but may have been exposed by other selfish people like you.

Why should my tax dollars go to saving your life when others deserve it more, making the hard choice but doing what is right for the rest of the community and the people around them?

Why should my or any children run the risk of being exposed to covid and it's various mutations because of your selfishness? They can't get vaxxed coz they are too young. Just as you may not know the long term impacts of being vaxed, we also don't know the long term impacts of getting Covid. Every time someone gets infected there is a chance that the virus will mutate.

Anti-vaxxers should go to the back of the line at hospitals when they get covid.

It's not even like this is the first vaccine ever created. There are vaccines for tetanus, diptheria, mumps, measles, rubella, Hepatitis A and B, smallpox, HPV and more.....

Over 4 billion people around the world have had their first dose of a covid vax. The chances of dying from getting the AstraZeneca vax? 1 in a million.

Do the math, maybe 4,000 people of that 4 billion may die.

A study in the UK from May recorded that 35 million people had been vaxed and just over 1.1k people had died from getting vaxed. That's 0.003%

If someone told you that wearing this seatbelt gave you a 99.997% chance of not dying and a 0.003% chance of dying in a crash, you'd wear the damn seatbelt.

800,000+ morons have died in the US alone from covid, the majority of them not vaxed.

So yes, antivaxxers are selfish and stupid.

Its insane how people think that a vaccine mandate is in any way good, and these same people are often the ones that are pro choice which makes it more baffling.

  • For all the shit I’ve seen antivaxxers saying, I hope they don’t seek hospitals when they get ill. After all the doctor doesn’t tell you the ingredients of the drug you take to get better

And imagine if these people existed in the times when vaccine was a new thing, I won’t be surprised if Small pox was still a thing now.

I just think antivaxxers are just selfish people in the end because they don’t care if their decisions affect the people around them

Just ask around and get a better place to take the vaccine. I understand if you are scared. I am too but the vaccine saved my life. The week after I took the vaccine, I got the covid from my mom. She had not taken the vaccine yet so my condition was very mild when compared to hers. So please take it if you can.

I don’t know where you are from but if you still feel scared, try and reach people you know who already took it and inquire from them on issues you seem concerned about. They may help

  • Like the thing with antivaxxers are that even if they won’t take the vaccine, they don’t also wear their masks. Some even think covid is a hoax. Their thought process is crazy. They act as if they never ever took vaccines when they were babies

  • Being vaxxed does not mean you cant spread the virus to other people if you have it, the risk still exists. Also you cant compare wearing a seatbelt to injecting something in you, no matter how beneficial it is, which we still dont know the long term effects of.

I am not saying anti vaxxers are not being selfish because its obvious that they are.

  • Vaccines save lives.

If you're anti Vax and catch it imo you shouldn't get the same care as a vaccinated person. You should be lower down on the priority list if you're admitted to hospital because you took no precautions and put everyone in danger.

  • So if people refuse to take a safe and effective vaccine that caused severe health complications and sometimes death (among healthy individuals), they're now considered selfish ?

  • How can you compare vaccines that had years of study to one who had less than a year to be created. Only months of tests.

Ffs, it's not like if everyone gets the vaccine the virus won't exist anymore. The virus will keep on circulating anyways. If people who want to get vaccinated and still gets the virus how is that always anti vaxxers fault.

Taking the vaccine doesn't even mean you won't die. People die anyways.

I know one person who had covid and had mild symptoms for 2 weeks, works from home and doesn't meet many people usually. Why someone like that should risk their life to get a vaccine who may kill them (even if little there's still a chance) or leave you with a lot of after effects. And what's worst is that they're gonna be named as selfish just because they think about their own life.

And children now can take the vaccine too. At least from 5 years onward (now I'm not sure about the right age). Let them get the vaccine. But I wouldn't want them to because at that age you risk more by getting the vaccine than getting covid per se. And mutations and covid is gonna be here even if everyone gets vaccinated. After getting the vaccine you can still get clvid, and not just from people who aren't vaccinated.

And ffs, stop it with the no right to be cured. Everyone has a right to be cured. Pro or anti vaccine. If there's not enough place or equipment in the hospitals it's also the government fault for not providing enough supplies.

And anti vaccines pay the taxes too. It's not like they get treated for free. Who are you to say they deserve to be treated less than who takes the vaccine.

And so, if non vaccinated die, why do you care. It's their free will of choice.

And the analogy about the seat belt. Never heard something this stupid. Can the seat belt kill you when you use it just because you're using it ? No. You can die if you get in an accident despite wearing it, but there's no way it will kill you before getting into an accident. Can you say the same for the vaccine ? No.

  • In Singapore, anti vaxxers now have to pay for their own hospitalisation due to covid.

I hope my country follows through
