Why is BTS and Blackpink much more popular worldwide outside the kpop bubble than all other kpop groups?

  • i want your opinions about why this happened? these two are just so way above the rest of the industry, what do you think is the reason for them to be more popular? ps: no hateful comments please or generic things like ''they just overhyped man'' i want something more concrete.

    Approved the thread.
  • Correction please --> It's actually BTS waywaywaywayway above followed by BlackPink way above kpop.

I can only speak for BTS. Their music resonates with me. I like watching them perform and they're relatable. Great stage presence and awesome choreo.

  • I can say for BTS but I don’t know for BP since I don’t keep up with them

BTS has got authenticity, they take part in their own music, and their music have substance too. Also lots of people love a good underdog story, making it against all odds. It kinda inspire people to do better when you see someone else profiting off their hard work.

They are also sincere towards their fans. Their personalities really stand out too and they are amazing performers. All these qualities amassed them an army that pushed them to the top of the industry.

  • Because I prayed for both these groups only

  • this question has been asked like 100 times. put two and two together.

  • Though it's kind of funny, the most popular group and the 2nd one both have literally the opposite ways to music and marketing.

BTS do not do any solo promotions

    BTS constantly release music

BTS promote more as the relatable group and do not have that exclusive image

    BTS have tons of content

    :angryr::cryingr:

  • the second one is not true for 2021 tho :wilds: they released much more merch than music

  • the second one is not true for 2021 tho :wilds: they released much more merch than music

    They'll compensate in 2022 :yesr:

Though still as a group and solo they released more music than BP ever did in a single year.

  • Blackpink were the first K-pop girl group to play at Coachella and to reach 1 billion YouTube views - now they’re the most-subscribed to music group on the platform. Including to their ‘girl crush’ concept (K-pop vernacular for a fiery look and sound that’s proved immensely popular with international audiences).

  • According to stats, BP is actually lot closer to the kpop bubble. BTS are the only ones who managed to reach and distance themselves wider. You can check the main for the stat thread.

  • The way I knew before opening this thread that it would be full of Armys talking about how Blackpink is on the same level as the rest of kpop LOL

Blackpink peak Spotify ML - 29M

Rest of KPOP - 11M (Twice)

    Blackpink YT subscribers - 70M

Rest of KPOP - 29M (SMTown)

The Album weeks charting on BB200 - 52+

Rest of KPOP - 10 weeks (NCT)

Blackpink songs to enter top 50 on Spotify Global - 12 (no solos)

Rest of KPOP - Error 404 Not found

Of course their overall streams and sales wouldn't be that high they gave 23 fucking songs?

No one is saying that BP is on BTS' level but Armys pretending that BP are on the same level as other KPOP groups internationally are delusional.

  • BP isn't as popular as their fans make them to be tbh. They're a lot popular than other ggs but nowhere near bts.

  • bp is not near bts’ massiveness. but, bp also has a very wide gap versus acts like nct, exp, twice, etc.

  • I don't follow BTS so I cannot comment on that. As for BP, IMO you have to go way back. Big Bang was massively popular back in the days and the notion of "Female" Big Bang gave up PLENTY of hype for fans. That's when 2ne1 came in, they were great and new and popular, but unfortunately they disbanded and fans are still thirsty waiting for new groups to be created under YG. And so when YG announced that they will come up with a new group, fans rejoiced and hyped that shit up like no tomorrow, calling it the second 2ne1. It also helped the group extremely that 3/4 of the members spoke fluent English. Tours, concerts, international fans connecting became much easier. When you got that YG connections, don't act surprised lol.

Communication is key. Majority of international fans understands English. Simple math. Once a group is hyped up and gain momentum to be popular, it is like the rich keep getting richer kinda thing. Groups with big ass fan base break records and sales, how is that possible? :pepe-use-head::pepe-use-head:
