but they sure are consistent. they and their creative team stick to their original sound, no matter what. they don't change their sound to please people or appeal to the general public and they don't let the mixed, often extreme reactions dissuade them. whether you like them or not, this is actually very admirable, it is so satisfying to see them finally make it big after stubbornly sticking to their identity for years.

while a lot of songs are a miss for me, the songs that i do like are so unique to them and despite how many groups try to cover them, no one comes close to them. we're in a point of kpop where a lot of the big groups could easily switch their releases (if theyre somewhere in the same concept range as each other) and no one would really notice. but nct has a sound so unique that it clearly shouts NCT and only they can do their songs justice.
kinda reminds me of willow smith. so many ppl shitted on her for years bc of her music and now ppl are obsessed with her songs. shows that if you stick to your a style despite what other ppl say and do it well, esp in an industry that pressures you to change to fit fan's wants, the attention will follow

key word: niche, so many missed opportunities
That's exactly what I'm talking about though? Their music style always had a niche audience but they never changed it. Eventually more and more people got into them and the niche became bigger, but it wasn't because they started chasing after mass appeal.
That's what I find admirable, sticking to your music style and vision despite the lukewarm reception and immense criticism.

Maybe one day, niche will get bigger and bigger until gp will like nct songs enough to make nct top melon and billboard hot 100, competing with IU and Drake.
