it should be retained but scoring weight or system can be revisited.
i'd really hate music shows becoming attendance music shows as well. real bop songs should win regardless and not someone who attended.
These are TV shows first and foremost; their awards should not be taken so seriously. They could just give the trophy to anyone they want every week; they don't do it because they want that text voting money. Therefore they elaborate those convoluted scoring systems in order to give a sense of legitimacy to their awards.
But, because I think it makes for a better show, it would be great if all the competitors were actually present and not just a name on the screen.
