does fame status affect idol friendships?

  • strangely, this is something i always think about. usually, popular groups tend to be friends with each other for example bp, twice and rv's friendship. but there are times when huge idols are friends with nugu idols e.g lisa and sorn.

so... for nugu x famous friendships, do you think the nugu one feels inferior? jealous over the famous idol friend's belongings or house? or does the famous one feel superior and say "i'm better than her, that's why i'm more famous".

or for famous x famous friendships, do you think the less popular one feels some type of way? like, "i used to be at the top and now this bitch is here"

i feel like they do feel that way, so are idol friendships really genuine? :pepe-popcorn:

  • Meh. I feel like most idols don't let the fame get into their heads. They have empathy with each other which is way more strong because of what all endured during trainee days no matter what company they come from.

I feel like the more famous you are, the more low-key you have to keep your friendships though.

  • Depends on person tbh

They all went through similar hardships during their trainee days.

For example Jihyo is good friend with Sejeong from Gugudan

  • Nugu and popular Idols don't have much that separate them since they all go to the same music shows, same bars/clubs etc. Korea isn't that big especially the places where idols hang out.

Now I do think some nugu idols feel inferior or jealous because its only natural but I think that's only for idols who take fame very serious.

but they have to take fame very seriously.... the more famous they are, the more money they have, the more longetivity they have, the more opportunities they have whether it be going solo or going into acting...

  • If they're really friends then status shouldn't matter at all. If members can put with other members who are much more popular then I'm sure they can put with less/more popular idols from other groups.

On a side note SNSD mentioned something related a few times. When they were the big dogs and went on music shows a lot of times other groups would simply just bow and not even talk to them because they were intimated by SNSD and their status. A little tradition was for newer groups was to go to seniors dressing rooms to greet them and give them a copy of the latest album, something even SNSD did as rookies and as seniors, but newer groups didn't do it and stayed clear. So SNSD felt because of their perceived status by others they couldn't really make friends with younger groups.

  • I don’t think so, someone who thinks he/she is superior wouldn’t hang out with someone they think is underneath them. I think they have a mutual understanding towards each other as they all kinda share the same hardships.
