Changed the title of the thread from “Not JYP being cancelled for his brown skin tone 💀” to “Not JYP being cancelled for his original brown skin tone 💀”.
  • Even if you argue that the backup dancers' afro wigs constitute blackface (even though it's clearly not meant as a mockery), it's still hard to justify how to blame JYP for this. He was literally a two-year-old artist at that point, signed to Cheil Communications (a subsidiary of Samsung) at the time. People are severely overestimating his power if they think he had control over what his backup dancers wore. But then again, I never expect cancel culture to be reasonable or consider the context...

  • this is where international fans start to piss me off, seriously policing people's skin tone??!! they're doing the same thing with Jessi, saying that she is too dark and that she is trying to turn into a black person!! international fans freak out when idols get lighter saying it's "skin bleaching" but when they get darker they call it "blackfishing"... so what? are people supposed to be only 1 skintone their whole life? reality check: that's not how the sun or skin works.

  • Of course everyone is free to be stupid, just don't forget to keep the same energy when it's your faves being cancelled for no reason.

exactly... they can cancel my favs if they want

but remember i'm not the ideal kpop fan at all..i don't defend my favs lol (but neither do i attack others...)

what's disturbing the most, is that most of these people aren't even black. 💀

  • Afro isn't owned by any race, that's something delusional to say, there are middle eastern people, white people with afro hair too.

Some of the comments were funny! Many different people can have "'froey" hair, but it's usually people generalized as "black" or "brown" who are most associated with it genetically.
