Why are minority trainees more eye-catching than Han trainees in Chinese GG survivals?

Jiang Zhenyu is ethnic Korean? I never heard that. She was born in Yunnan, in the South East near Burma so if she's minority, it would be Dai (Tai) or Kinh (Vietnamese) related than Korean. I think she is Han though.

Chaoyue is Bai which is a Tai related ethnicity from Yunnan as well. On Yamy, I read that Cantonese have a heavy mixture of Zhuang (yet another Tai group) especially on the maternal side -- those in KPOP from this ethnicity would be Elkie, Cheng Xiao, Xuanyi and Vivi.

The center for the Chuang 2020 theme song, Lin Junyi, was definitely ethnic Korean. She was one of my faves along with Sally (Cantonese) and Hu Maer (Uighur) and Curley (Uighur.)

BTW, I liked Lana a lot during Chuang 2020 though she got a lot of flack from KPOP IFans.

I thought she was talented, beautiful and fitted in very well despite being Russian.

Fu jing was born in Hunan, that's like Chinese hinterland or like Iowa in the US. Not a diverse area so probably no mixing.

She is model gorgeous so a natural fit for luxury CFs and CDrama. But she's a true idol with a great voice.

Cantonese is just one of the many subgroups of Han people. Thai Chinese are most likely Teochew people, another subgroup of Han ethnicity.

Isn't Cantonese basically Han?

Sunny is mostly Han, born from Chinese Thai and Taiwan parents, and she looks Han.

Mimi's grandparents came from Guangdong, she belongs to Han blanket.

Fu Jing looks South Chinese. Those in the far south of China is somewhere in between proto-Mongoloid (SEA) and neo-Mongoloid (Northern East Asian).

Guangdong was inhabited by multiple non-Han tribes called Baiyue. (Bai = hundred) Later, the Han conquered this area and migrated, the native eventually mixed with the Han immigrants and absorbed into Han blanket. Tai was one of the Baiyue. The word "Canton" derived from an obsolete Han dialect.

The Cantonese indeed was more Han-esque than the Mandarin as the later was a heritage of the Manchu ruler of Qing Dynasty.
