Some of the producers of Produce 101 rigged the results.
From what I remember there was potentially interference in the first season that made I.O.I (idk if this was proven in court or if it was just under investigation), two members of season 2 that made it into Wanna One, and all members of IZ*ONE and X1 were chosen before the series started. X1 ended up disbanding after their debut album. IZ*ONE continued until their contracts ended (X1's members hadn't signed their promotional contracts yet.)
I know one of the producers of Produce 101 was also a producer on Idol School. I actually don't know how the rigging was done on that program, but I do know one of the top finishers was kept from the final lineup.

and the show was confirm to be rigged because it was the same PD than produce show
and lately during the trial the PD of idol school confirm that the show was rigged, that the real #1 (Lee Haein) was cut off the final lineup even if she won because she didn't fit the girlgroup image fromis_9 was going to have
