The west does like pop music. One Direction were huge and they were mediocre. It only takes one person, one song, or even one media event to catch with the public and interest will swing towards a new group. Massive groups are more likely in the future not less, because there are so many ways to connect with fans now.

I think it's actually One Direction that couldn't happen again. Fans who are being raised on K-Pop won't tolerate no choreo, their faves openly dating models, and calling fans cunts at the airport anymore. They'll have to give back the appearance of equal devotion and focusing on their "craft". I think that will be K-Pop's lasting impact. Fan service
