My favorite thing to make is Central Asian pilaf (palau) with lamb! (not my images)

Chicken korma

For tea, doodh patti, always makes my mood better:

For desserts, literally anything, I love sweet stuff

Give us recipes too!!!!

So for rice pilaf:
2 lbs lamb (boneless meat)
1 onion
1 lb carrots
2 cups rice (Jasmine would do)
whole garlic
cumin - about 2 tbsp
salt
black pepper
red pepper (optional)
turmeric (optional)
oil
Ideally you're supposed to have a "barberry" spice which is common in Central Asia but I couldn't find it in the US.
I also sometimes use a spice mix for pilaf but those are hard to get in stores.
1. Slice the onion and fry it in oil for a few minutes (better to use a cast iron pot for this)
2. Add pieces of lamb
3. Cut carrots in sticks and add them to the onion and meat, fry for about 10 min
4. Add the spices
5. Add water so it covers the meat and let the whole thing cook on medium heat until the meat is cooked, for about 40 minutes
6. Add the rice (washed) on top of meat
7. Add water so it covers the rice (2 fingers above the rice). I also put a whole garlic in the rice lol
8. Let the water boil, then reduce the heat, and let the rice cook in the covered pot
9. Once the rice is done, let the dish sit for about 20 minutes, and then mix it all up
For chicken korma, I use this recipe. It can be tricky though, it's important to add enough oil, it makes the food tastier. Served with naan/paratha.
And for doodh patti, I do this:
1. Put 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup half and half in a pot
2. Add a couple of cardamom pods (I open them up before adding)
3. Add a tbsp of sugar (I like it sweet)
4. Let the whole thing boil, reduce the heat
5. Add a tbsp of black tea and keep stirring until it gets dark
Supposedly you can use other dried tart fruit like cranberries as a substitute if you cannot find the real thing

Never heard of this. What is it?

Personally, I've never been a fan of cooking. Mom took charge and I only ate and cleaned the dishes lol
However, because of Covid and the quarantine, I had to stay at home and work online, so I had some time on my hands. I spent a lot of it in the kitchen and I discovered that it's fun and therapeutic. I also realized that I can bake and make desserts. The family has started to look forward to my creations lol I created a monster.
I'll share pictures with you, especially that Eid is coming and we always make pastry to celebrate it.

My easy personal chix wing recipe:
Marinade wings in lemon , fish sauce (this is to make the meat tender), salt n pepper
then dip wings in flour, egg, flour
Re: fish sauce- don't worry, the chicken won't smell of fish sauce, but will melt in your mouth. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside.
