Well, it is also important to note that we all can express many things differently from another.

But given the theme that you stated and your format, I would suggest starting with who and then go into how this particular thing grabbed your interest. That leading to how this affected you today (the whole purpose of the application).

I would start off by introducing yourself, then why you are interested in the scholarship, talk about your experience etc and a great conclusion

I think you should do some research on what kind of essay that your scholarship wants?
Usually they provide some structure right?

Last week, I attend an educational event which the speakers sharing some tips to get a scholarship.
Their type of essay is to convince the scholarship committee to choose them.

"why you should get this scholarship?"

"what are the things that you want to achieve through this chance?"
"How do you achieve that?"

Those are some question that made as a foundation in their writings. But since each scholarships could be different, I suggest you to do some research first...

But the general gist to write essay is, you should structure your topics with some points, and you explain those points in each paragraphs.

For an online course scholarship (like coursera or datacamp), I usually write a related topics with a course that I wanted to apply. I tell them about some problem that I found, and shared my idea on how I might solved that if I deepen my foundation with the course that they provide.

I'm not really sure of the tone that the scholarship really wants. But try adding an anecdote, it might give you an edge to the other applicants.
