With the massive amount of Nine Muses threads on here lately and I just want to give new fans who are finding them an overview of the mistreatment they experienced which lead to many members leaving and the eventual disbandment of the group. I have linked many news stories, and videos, I know it is a lot to read but if you want to know the full reason of why the fandom is so upset with their company it is worth it.
Things they went through before debuting
- The members were constantly having breakdowns because of how harshly they were treated
- Sera was targeted as the leader and told that everything that went wrong was her fault
- Sera was slapped by their CEO
- Hyemin was called an ‘ugly duckling’ and told ‘she looks stupid’
- Sera said “before the debut, there was humanity among us. we don’t have that anymore”
Body Shaming
- They were forced onto the infamous paper cup diet
- Eunji said she only weighed 44kg when she was in 9M (and she wasn’t the skinniest member)
- Members generally had underweight BMIs and their looks were prioritized over their health
Problems with Staff
- The ceo slapped sera on camera + ZE:A members say the ceo regularly slaps them
- Kyungri said CEO gives gifts to certain members and always ignored her
- 9M said that their chief manager, MyungPil Bong, was rude and harsh on them
- They had to put up with really long hiatuses sometimes lasting two years
- Hyemin cried on a live when she was talking about how their comeback was scheduled for October
- Members leaving was disguised as ‘graduations’
