yes I am aware, but let's be honest if they would drop a nuclear bomb on Seoul then there is no reaction to that, whole city will be gone in a second.
As for smaller attacks well I know they destroyed some office on their side of border but that was it, it's not like they have situation like in Donbas in Ukraine when bullets or some rockets are flying all the time...
You don’t think having a well prepared army to scout for possible aircraft heading to drop a bomb or manpower to prevent a large attack help...? Ok...

The only reason is because they are Korean males. If they don't go, even if they are exempt, their image will take a hit in SK. Some citizens will not forgive them from being exempt no matter how many billions they bring to the economy. Unless they are missing an arm or a leg, exceptions are not looked at with a friendly eye in SK. And even those with medical exemptions publicly apologize for being exempt. Not serving in the military, no matter the reason, has a really negative stigma in SK.
