However, the only ones we’ve come across that appear to have an objective basis are those created by the Korean Business Research Institute (as published in Soompi). These rankings are determined through an analysis of the consumer participation, media coverage, interaction, and community indexes of various girl groups.The Korean Business Research Institute statistics are released monthly. Our analysis provides a broader and more balanced view by combining the monthly rankings into annual averages. These rankings are based on social media metrics only. The first column shows the difference in rank between the current month and the previous month. The next column shows the difference in rank between the current month and a half year ago. Red Velvet has shown the largest decrease since last period, moving down to seventh place which represents a decrease of three positions since last month and four positions since half year ago. On the other hand, aespa has shown the largest increase moving up two positions to 20th place since last month and up 36 positions from 56th place since half year ago. aespa is a four-member group which premiered in November 2020 with the digital single “Black Mamba”.
